Jake Jones blazes into town……

A rising star in the darts world was seen at the Winter Garden, Eastbourne with 17 year old Jake Jones from Staffordshire showing great composure in the final to beat Steve Webster from  Kent by 5 legs to 3 to be crowned the Red Dragon Darts Eastbourne Open champion for 2011 receiving a winner’s cheque for £1500.

It proved to be a very good weekend for this polite young man, not only winning the main event but he also reached the semi finals of both the Open and Men’s Pairs and quarter finals of the Men’s and Youths Singles. Certainly a name to watch for in future years and it is hoped that Jake will be back next year to defend the title.

The weekend also saw Darren Webster from  Norfolk winning both the Men’s Singles by beating Jim Withers 3-1 and the new Super 64’s event overcoming Robbie Prince 3-2 in the final.

The Ladies Singles winner was Donna Russell beating Trish Kidd 3-1, the Youth title went to Sam Fuller with a 3-1 win over local lad Todd Rainsley. The Open Pairs saw Mark Hadwick and Joe Lacey proving to strong for Chris Aubrey and Mark Thomson winning 3-1, Ladies Pairs was won by Stephanie Smee and Tara Deamer with Paul Cook and Jane Monaghan being triumphant in the Mixed Pairs.
