Jamie Caven’s Tournament Diary
Was stopped in my tracks on Saturday by a red hot Vincent Van Der Voort. He beat me 3-1, and realistically I had no reply to his excellent all round play.
In the previous round I overcame Richie Burnett who showed some glimpses of why he was World Champion in 1995. I was coastin at 2 sets to nil, but he fought back to 2-2 and the final set went to the deciding leg, but fair play to him.
In the round previous to that - I was a couple of millimetres away from my first tournament 9 darter. I was drawn against a friend of mine - Tony Littleton, we travel together and had to play each other in the first round!!!
I hit 177, 180, T20 T20 and just fell short of the double 12 which would of scooped me about £2,000. Oh well - I am certain it will come soon, as you know I have had a couple, and been close other times, I am sure my first competitive one is just around the corner.
