Keelan Kay Commits to Red Dragon Darts till 2025
Keelan Kay has extended his stay with Red Dragon signing a new three-year deal until 2025 with darts most modern manufacturer that also sponsors World Champions Peter Wright, Gezzy Price and Major Winner Jonny Clayton.
A major talking point in the Devon born darting stars’ career must be his victory at the WDF World Youth Cup in 2019 after beating Mehrdad Seyfi in the Final, with the likes of Jurjen van der Velde and Nathan Girvin all involved across the competition in Romania.
The man from Iran struggled to deal with the scoring power of Keelan, averaging 17 points lower in the Final. Kay scored 85.50 over the nine legs of darts winning 6-3 in the Final at the Grand Hotel Italia, Cluj Napoca back in October 2019.
The 20-year-old has played in many PDC Development Tours over the years, achieving a run to the Quarter Finals as his best performance in 2020 where he beat the likes of Liam Meek and James Beeton, eventually losing out to Niels Zonneveld in the Last 8.
The Lord of the Board has recently played in the Online Darts Live League a new event brought into the sport through the Covid 19 pandemic, giving many the opportunity to play round robin matches against four/ five other quality players.
The concept helps improve the game of many including Keelan, who has certainly benefitted despite not winning, with fellow Red Dragon Josh Payne gaining victory in Champions Week last month after beating Connor Heneghan in the Grand Finale.
The Englishman was handed a difficult group at the ODL playing two ADC Championship Tour winners in Adam Atkinson and Tony Newell, as well as 2007 World Championship Quarter Finalist and Winmau star Colin Osborne.
The future looks bright at the age of 20 with plenty of development to come and with Red Dragon on side, we are looking forward to seeing the progress of Keelan Kay over the next few years.
Keelan spoke on his new deal and said: “I am delighted to continue my journey with Red Dragon, you can see how special it is to be associated with the manufacturer, the choice of World Champions such as Peter Wright and Gerwyn Price. I cannot wait to see what the future holds, and I look forward to getting back on the oche to try and achieve further success in my career.”
Marketing director Simon Hall said on the new deal saying: “We are really happy to continue with Keelan for the next three years having impressed as an individual throughout his years developing in the sport, he's both driven and very respectful of the game, and we look forward to helping him build on the success he's achieved already”.
