Mile High looks ahead
As ever at this time of year Mile High returns to his favourite stomping ground of Open Events and non PDC competitions. The last few weeks have see the usual quota of later stage places in Open events, from small local KO^sthrough to Double16.com weekend events in Doncaster and Chesterfield.
These provide Mark with the opportunity to re connect with his darting roots as well as enjoying good events, good company and some fiercely competitive darts. A fine win in the Stafford Super League Doubles, being particularly satisfying as it completed a set of every title available in the league over the years. Mark and partner Steve Shenton played by far the best darts of the night and despite coming up against some very strong pair managed to triumph overall.
It is an important part of making progress as a professional to keep things as real as possible and Mark places high value on performing at whatever level is required, in whatever circumstances prevail, against any and all comers.
Thus his victory in the TVDL singles this week was equally rewarding. The league is very strong indeed and includes luminaries such as Colin Ozzy Osborne within its ranks. Mile High is now the holder of both The Premier Division and Overall Singles titles, his victory came through defeating his own doubles partner 4-0 in the final!
He now holds both the overall and divisional singles titles and also held the summer league titles. Preparation such as this is priceless in the quest for top form and match sharpness/ toughness for the challenges that await in the professional arena, The Final Pro Tour weekend and two major championships in 3 weeks provide a sterling test to what has been a fantastic year for Mile High, only how remains as a question for Mark to answer!
