Monk wins Hampshire Open
Cool-handed Colin Monk became the first player to regain the TV Workshop Hampshire Darts Open title at the weekend.
The former Winmau World Master and two times Embassy semi-finalist defeated long-time friend and Hampshire team manager Roy Brown to secure the trophy for a second time and collect the £1,000 winner^s purse.
Monk admitted that he had ridden his luck all day, but experience and class finishes came to his rescue just when they were needed.
Monk said: "My boy (Aaron) said to me before the final that I had got there because of my finishing and for me to carry on like that.
"I was facing going out at one point and hit a 117 and other three-dart finishes when I needed them."
Monk, who last won the title in 2003, was one of five former winners in a field of 440 who had an eye on becoming a double champion.
