Newbold Grand Slam

Turbo Hits The Grand Slam

Newbold Grand Slam took place this week and it was a brilliant tournament full of cracking darts and with well over 330 legs of darts. A very close affair, it was as it was littered with some of the top county players taking part and as all Grand slams, it was group stages leading to a straight knockout. Group A Yorkshire County star Paul Moore was the winner of Group A, winning all games in a very tough group by seeing off the very dangerous Pete Daffin, Steve Tingy, Jack Brooks and Chris in the first game with both men going through to the knockout stages. Paul Moore, Chris Lacey and Trevor Burkhill

Steve Meek was unsuccessful in his opener against the unlucky player of the group just missing out Bob Pinder, going down 4-3 but then rallied to win the next three over Eggy Zanderberg, Steve Smith and finally over Paul Woolfe. Which set up a shootout against the same man to decide the group winner, which he won also and going through with Paul also.

Jake Rhodes, the quickfire youngster pushed him all the way, but went down in his last match to Mark Crossley. That was enough for Mark to leapfrog the young gun and take 2nd spot going through.
