Nifty Dart Change for Peter Wright
Peter Wright made an emergency dart change mid-way through his crucial first round match with rising star Jose de Sousa, who had taken an 8-5 lead against the World Champion and was in firm control of the match.
Peter, took swift action in ditching his specs and changing his darts for a set with a smaller point.
Peter said "Firstly the lights were glaring in my glasses and I just could not see anything clearly, added to which my darts felt like they were over-reaching into the board, so I took off my glasses and changed my darts for a set with smaller points, but the exact same barrel."
"Once i had these in my hands they just felt perfect for that specific time, and helped me get back into the match as Jose was really dominant, but I've learned to remain calm and keep trusting myself in big majors, which luckily worked out just right."
Peter's new darts had points that were showing 28mm, as opposed to the 33mm points that he started with.
Lee Huxtable, Production Director at Red Dragon and Peter's custom fit expert said "Peter has always been able to feel the flight and trajectory that different length points offer him.
“When he changed his darts on stage, I knew exactly that he was looking for his darts to come in a little bit lower to improve his scoring, which he often does by using a set with shorter points. We’ve equipped Peter with a number of points that are made in several different lengths which can help him adapt depending on the event, the location and how Peter feels his throw is that week."
