Peter Wright wins First Red Dragon Harlow Open

Lowestoft player Peter Wright emerged a 5-2 victor in the men^s singles, holding back an impressive effort from Steve Smith who looked in contention at 2-2. Wright (last 16 2011 PDC World Championships) drew on his pro tour experience to break away and take the win with a 29.32 one dart average, two maximums and out shots of 150 and 136.

The men^s competition attracted a strong field of 95 hopefuls, whilst 13 battled it out in the women^s event.

The ladies event was won (for the second time in a row) by Tara Deamer who defeated Susan Baker.

The event was superb as it attracted a wide range of dart players across all ages and ability in both fields.

Previous winners of this particular event include Steve Maish (twice), Clive Barden, Adrian Gray, Jamie Robinson and Darren Webster.

The majority of competitors and organisers stayed on to take full advantage of free entry to the Greyhound racing, where quite a few won their darts entry fee back.

The next Red Dragon Harlow Open is to be held on Saturday 28th of May.

Presentations will be made by Simon Whitlock who will be in attendance to enjoy the Nights Racing after the tournament.
