Gerwyn Price remains the only unbeaten player left in the Unibet Premier League after a 7-1 win over Peter Wright.
The Iceman took full advantage of an out-of-sorts Snakebite in Dublin and added a win to his three previous draws.
Now the flying Welshman hopes he has finally ditched his draw curse in a bid for the top four and finals night at the O2.
He said: “I know Peter didn’t perform there but I’m happy with a 7-1 win. I’d rather play him when he’s in that state than when he’s firing on all cylinders.
“Especially in the Premier League after three draws, I feel like I’m in the tournament now.
“When I was 6-1 up I probably knew I wasn’t going to draw. I was stood behind Peter and I played him in the Pro Tour and every dart was treble, treble, treble.
“I think every dart was just missing today. It was a better scene for me looking from behind. Peter will come back from this. He didn’t play very well, I was alright at the start and went off at the end but it’s a very good win for me.
“I didn’t miss out by legs last year, I missed out because of too many draws. I’ve had three draws already and I thought that might come back and bite me again but I think I can push on from this win now.
“I need to perform a bit better next week because I think I need to. I was lucky Peter wasn’t on his game.
“It’s nice to be unbeaten but I wanted to get a win under my belt. It’s taken until week four to get a win and I’ve finally done it. I’ve got five points and it doesn’t look like I’ll get dumped out at the cut-off, that was the main aim. Now hopefully I’ll try and get into the top four.
“It was good to win the Pro Tour. I was changing darts, messing about with two different sets and it didn’t work for me.
“So I just went back to my old set like I said the previous week. I got to two finals, picked up £16,000. Personally I thought I should have won both of them. It doesn’t always go that way. So happy days.”
