Red Dragon Derby Singles League
Premier League
As Mr Walsh rightly said in an earlier post, Andy Hamilton did thump me 7-1, but to be fair, I didn’t produce the displays of late to really force a better scoreline, but Andy did like my Taylor like paraplegic punch after winning my solitary leg. Elsewhere, Chrissy Jacobs upturn in form was undone by poor finishing after being held 4-4 by Ty Ward, with Ty claiming another 4-4 draw against Kev"man" Ryan. Mark "sumo" Wilson is closing in on second place with a 7-1 over Nath Marshall, who is looking odds on for the drop, and Scott Gibling Plunged Gaz Stokes deep into the mire with a 7-1 victory.
Div 1
The big question in div 1 is….. Are the wheels coming off the Bri Dodson promotion bandwagon? Virtually unbeatable the first half of the season, bri has now lost 2 on the spin and the old dartitus seems to be coming into play. He must be bad because Andy Walsh of all people beat him 5-3...Elsewhere, Mark Nish consolidated 2nd spot with a 5-3 win over Lindford Christies double, Chris walker. With Adam Fields and Roy Clarke winning 5-3 and 7-1 respectively, Bri must be nervously looking over his shoulder. Perhaps the biggest winner of the night was John Sansom winning his two games by a scoreline of 5-3 in each encounter while his son James mustered a draw against Steve Birkin.
Div 2
Paul "penfold 2" Read boosted his chances of claiming top spot in div 2 with a 7-1 win over Steve Allsopp, and while 2nd placed Chris Ward had a night off, Nath"standard" Sutton made inroads for a top 3 finish with a 6-2 win over Ady "alrite mate" Johnson. Con Marshall retrieved a dire situation after being 4-2 down to Manny Singh to claim a 4-4 draw and sit in 3rd place. Lauren "im sorry miss" Jackson looks to have blown any realistic chance of a promotion push with a 6-2 reversal at the hands of Ty ward Junior.
Div 3
Amy Clifton looks to have guaranteed at least a top 3 finish after dispatching her close friend Vicky Henshaw 6-0, while Paul "buddy " Hollingworth did his promotion chances no harm with a 5-1 victory over Carol” I cant mark" Clarke. Alex Lynam kept his self in the promotion mix with a 4-2 win over sue page Looker, that after being 2-0 down. Julie Wilson vs John Beswick and Daz Finch vs Alex Clarence ended in 3-3 stalemates while Kirsty Dodson gained a 6-0 white wash over Carol smith.
Winter Season
Basically, in a nutshell,...we are full. 60 Players, the most ever in the history of the Red Dragon Derby Singles League have now given us the big "im In”, so winter season is gonna be very hard work but it will be very rewarding.
I have already had enquiries about summer 2012 off people wanting to enter so all good news.
There will be a reserve list so if we do get any drop out they will be advised. I am extremely proud of this league, not because of its rise from humble beginnings to what it is today..but to the fantastic group of players that have moulded this league into what it is today, and with Red dragons continued support and the help and support of Neil Birkin who has bumped the profile upwards. I can only see great times ahead...
Better start looking for a bigger venue LOL.....
