Snakebite Double Diamond Victory
Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright romped to his second event title in four days as he triumphed over the World’s strongest at the Players Championship 19.
Peter’s red-hot form saw him win the German Darts Masters, and that form has continued, throwing in a devastating 113 average against Dimitri Van den Bergh in Round 2 yesterday.
Snakebite had an almighty tussle on his hands coming from behind to beat Glen Durrant before moving on to play Vincent van der Voort and a superb 7-3 win over World Cup of Darts team-mate Gary Anderson. The superb run culminated in a great final win over the back in form Justin Pipe.
Snakebite said: “I’ve been working so hard on my game and have really kicked on since playing in the World Cup. That event really brought back my passion for playing darts as I need to play with a smile to get my best results, I know my wife will claim the credit for me using the dart of her choice but I don’t really care if I keep winning, but I have asked for the same set in blue!
“I’m sure my amazing partners at Red Dragon will make some, as truly without their unquestioning support I couldn’t play to the best of my ability”
Snakebite faces Players Championship 20 today then moves on the World Matchplay in Blackpool, where he faces Vincent van der Voort again on Sunday 21st July.
