Sparky Derails Welshman Philip’s title hopes

Young Dutch newcomer Welsey Harris eased into the final 16 with a sterling 3-1 victory over Welshman Martin Philips.

The Welshman was left to rue his squandered opportunities after missing multiple different doubles, whilst the young electrician was in high-spirits on his exit from the arena.

Sparky opened his account by taking the throwing advantage away from Martin Phillips in the very first set and then proceeded to race into the lead, taking six of the first seven legs.

Phillips then began a comeback by taking the second, third and fifth legs in the third set.

Phillips missed multiple doubles; hindering his success in the match and Harris showed his clinical edge by taking full advantage and leveling the sets.

The Dutchman then hit double one in the fifth leg to clinch the match and progress into the second round.
