The Eurosport Televised 41st Winmau World Masters is Here!
On the eve of the 2014 Winmau World Masters play-offs, darts players from around the World have again gathered at the Airco Arena in Hull for the 41st staging of the oldest major competition in darts.
Players from over 30 counties are in Hull for the week-long darts extravaganza, which includes plays-offs for the World Trophy, Lakeside World Championship and the inaugural Lakeside BDO Winmau Youth World Championships.
What’s more, broadcasting giant Eurosport are beaming coverage across the globe this Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Sue Williams Chairperson of the BDO said:
"To qualify for this event every player is a champion in their own right and have earned the right to compete. We are expecting a very high standard and the most amazing thing about the Winmau is that we can never predict who will be crowned Champion in any of our four Categories – Men, Ladies, Boys and Girls. There is all to play for.
I am also particularly pleased that this year the BDO, Winmau and the World Disability Darts Association (WDDA) will be hosting a demonstration event for wheelchair players on 11th and 12th October. The winner of the wheelchair demonstration event will get the chance to play former World Champion Andy ‘The Viking’ Fordham live on the main Winmau World Masters Stage.
This is truly Darts for All.”
The Sales and Marketing Director of Winmau, Ian Flack, added:
"The standard of youth and women’s darts in particular is at an incredible level and this tournament seems to bring out the best in all players. Players travel to Hull to compete in the oldest established major tournament in World Darts. Every year the tournament continues to grow in stature and we are immensely proud to be associated with this unique event.”
The play-offs are being held on Thursday 9th October in the Airco Arena, Walton Street, Hull and will be open to spectators with tickets available on the door (cost £5). The staged finals will be held once again at the magnificent Hull City Hull.
