TONY O’SHEA IS No.1 SEED FOR 2009 WINMAU WORLD MASTERS

England’s TONY O’SHEA, the BDO and WDF No.1, is the No.1 Seed for the 2009 Winmau World Masters after the most successful year of his career.

He sits proudly at No.1 in the BDO Men’s Invitation Table, 32 points clear of his nearest rival and England team-mate SCOTT WAITES, and is also World No.1 in the WDF Ranking table.

Runner-up to Ted Hankey in this year’s Lakeside World Professional Darts Championship, Tony has so far claimed three major titles in 2009 – the Scottish Open, BDO International Open and the Welsh Classic – and was once again runner-up to Ted Hankey in the EDO England Open.

He’s a member of the England team, comprising Darryl Fitton, Scott Waites and Martin Adams (Capt), who will compete in the WDF World Cup in Charlotte, USA from September 24th to 26th.

The 2009 BDO WINMAU WORLD MASTERS, in association with John Smith’s and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, will be played at The Spa Bridlington on September 4th , 5th & 6th - with the last 16 in the Men’s World Masters enjoying extensive BBC TV coverage over the weekend of Saturday, September 5th and Sunday, September 6th.

It will once again be the richest two-day tournament on terrestrial TV with record-breaking prize money of £64,500.
