Winmau Darts Centre at Wolverhampton Sports Arena by Alan Towe
Wolverhampton has been chosen for the regional heat of a nationwide darts competition with £17,000 worth of prize cash - and free entry.
The West Midlands leg of the Worthington Champion of Champions competition, with a £5,000 first prize for the national winner and cash for the last 32, will be staged at the Winmau Darts Centre in Wolverhampton Sports Arena. over two days, Saturday and Sunday July 11th and 12th.
All men and women, along with juniors aged 14 or over, get free entry; and the winner of the heat will go forward to the finals in St David^s Hall, Cardiff on August 30th - with the chance to carry off £5,000.
The competition is organised by Red Dragon Darts and a spokesman said Wolverhampton was chosen because of its excellent facilities, with a dedicated centre that has unequalled practice facilities and the space to host the event.
Wolverhampton Sports Arena manager Dharam Jagpal commented. "We are now the undisputed top darts venue in the Midlands, with the Winmau Darts Centre featuring leagues and competitions for most of the week. This year we have been selected for several top events, all attracting some of the world^s top players."
