The word is fast spreading far and wide of the popularity of the Winmau First Thursday of The Month Knockouts at the Wolverhampton Indoor Community Sports Stadium and is such that it is now able to boast the fact that it has attracted The U.S.A’s number one player Larry (The Bald Eagle) Butler to its latest competition.

2015-11-05 - Winmau Centre Monthly Knockout Dharam (Tam) Jagpal and winner Larry Butler

In the quarter finals Butler, who finished as runner up to Glen Durrant in this year’s Winmau World Masters in Hull was held to a very close 4-3 win by Richard Hosey but then had a more convincing 5-1 success in the semis against Lee Craig to reach the final.
From the other half of the draw a previous winner of the competition Mick Baker accounted for Simon Meredith with a 4-1 result to reach the last four and then booked his final place with a straight 5-0 win over West Midland player Sam Guest.
The final saw Butler produce the form that has taken him to the top of the American charts and the final of the Winmau World Masters as he clinched the top prize with a 6-2 win over Baker.
---------------------------------
Last season in the Winmau Centre Monday Night League The Untouchables won the title with 25 wins in 26 games but after the opening eight games of the new season they have already lost one of their fixtures. The defeat came in week five playing against What’s The Point when they went down 25-23.
The position at the time of going to print is that Misfits lead the way with 276 points from 8 games What Are Thooose and What’s The Point are second and third respectively and in turn have 269 and 255 points.
The Untouchables are in fourth place on 246 points but they have a game in hand on the three teams above them and a win in that game could see them take over the number one spot.
---------------------------------
The Winmau Centre is in the process of getting a new Business Darts League underway, a league designed to cater for teams from their place of work. To find out more telephone the centre on 01902-420827 or for more information e-mail info@wics.org.uk
