Wright and Price Return for Premier League
World Champion Peter Wright and Grand Slam Champion Gerwyn Price both return to televised darts in a Unibet Premier League extravaganza.
Gezzy faces Nathan Aspinall in his first game of the return before Wright and Durrant battle it out in the last game of the evening.
The showpiece event returns for the first time since March with 10 consecutive days of league matches from 25th Aug – 5th September at the Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes.
Peter Wright is ready to continue his push into the play-off spaces come the end of the of the league stage, ‘Snakebite’ sitting just one place outside the top four.
Peter said “I had a fairly good start to this year’s tournament, but I could have maybe picked up an extra point or two looking back. After being crowned World Champion I was ready to attack the Premier League and go that one step further to win it”
“It’s an extremely tight tournament this year and you have to work harder than ever to get the win. I’ve got my sights set on the top of the league, it’s going to be a grueling week or so in Milton Keynes but I’m as prepared as possible to produce my best game”
“During this lockdown I’ve refined my practice routines and having Dimi stay with me has been really refreshing, the dynamic we have has really pushed us both on and I’ve got that focus that will bring out the best Snakebite possible come match time.”
Gerwyn ‘The Iceman’ Price also finds himself just outside the play-off spots picking up 5 points from the opening six games, but just two points off Nathan Aspinall in fourth.
Price said “Looking back I’ve maybe picked up too many draws so far, I was just that 2 or 3% off getting the win and in such a tight tournament like this it can make all the difference.”
“Lockdown has been a weird one for my game, I really thrive on the adrenaline of a big tournament and competition so I struggle at times to get motivated for say the Home Tour or just practice in general.”
“I’ve put the hours in on the practice board and kept ticking over, but the Summer Series and Matchplay gave me that taste of competition and now I can feel the drive really coming back in my preparation.”
“First things first I’ve got to make sure I secure a few points to guarantee I’m out of the drop zone, then it’s time to push for a play-off spot. It’s a ruthless tournament, but I know I’ve got the game to qualify for Finals night – it’s just about translating it to points in the table and maybe getting that slight bit of luck to get me over the line.”
All the action will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK, on PDCTV for Rest of the World Subscribers and through the PDC's worldwide broadcast partners.
