Article: Wright’s Diamonds Continue to Shine

Wright’s Diamonds Continue to Shine

Peter Wright extended his PDC winning streak to a staggering 20 matches after his sublime 11-2 victory over Simon Whitlock last night at the Winter Gardens.

Snakebite has rekindled his love affair with the Euro 11 Element darts on his red-hot run of form, but when asked if this is finally the set he would stick with, Peter stated, “No… when I win here with these darts, at the World Series I’ll be using my blue diamonds!”

Wright has been on sensational form since his World Cup of Darts win, which gave life to the Special Edition Euro 11 blue barrels to commemorate that fantastic triumph.

The statistics have been truly phenomenal for Wright, especially over the last fortnight, Wrighty making it an eighth consecutive 100+ average last night and he stated “I’m going to get better.”

“I’ve found that little bit of magic that I need” said Peter after his 2nd round win, “It’s a shame the nine-darter didn’t go in but I feel in a good place. I’ve tinkered with my darts for years, but everyone keeps telling me to use the diamonds.”

“I’m back using them again and I feel so comfortable up there.”

Wright now finds himself second favourite with the bookies to win the tournament and is still the form man to beat in the competition. Peter acknowledges there’s still a long way to go however, if he’s to better his runner-up spot from 2017.

"This is a hard tournament but all the big names are gone and I think the hardest half of the draw now is the bottom half, my half.

“I’ve been to many finals and I back myself to go all the way this year.”

Next up for Wright is Daryl Gurney in the quarter finals on Friday evening. With his trusty diamonds in hand, we’re sure Peter can produce more of his glittering displays and prove to the World the quality that he still has.
