No Bull – ASA Turns to Darts Again
On Tuesday 24 January, Room 180, the home of the Central College Nottingham’s Darts Academy, host their first event of 2017. The ASA Swimming team are joining the Room 180 staff to host an evening of darts, with an opportunity for networking and fund raising for the Sport In Mind Charity. Gary Horsley - Room 180 Academy manager is delighted to host the event that has been organised by 4 Darts Academy students on the 90 Credit Diploma in Sport. Chris Green on the Foundation Degree in Sport and joint co-ordinator for the event explains, “the event organisation has been great so far, I have learnt so many skills around event organisation and look forward to testing my communication skills on the night of the event”. Gary comments – “it is great that the learners come out of their comfort zones on such events, this is where real learning takes place. I am looking forward to seeing the students in action and I am confident the night will be a great success. Education is all about life skills and Room 180 is the ideal venue for such experiences”. Ian Wood the ASA co-ordinator comments: ‘All the team are looking forward to a fun night of darts, as well as raising some money for a very worthwhile charity. There are some very competitive members of staff attending – so it promises to be a keenly fought contest. Last year’s event was superb and I look forward to seeing the new students in action. Sarah Green has won the last 2 events so maybe a treble is on the cards?” Neil Harris – Sport In Mind founder says: "Sport in Mind would like to thank everyone for their kindness in supporting our charity and wish the event every success. We hope the ASA team enjoy competing against each other in a fun and friendly event. Any money raised from the event will support our charity to use sport to help aid the recovery of people experiencing mental illness. We are really appreciative of everyone's support at the event and please consider making a donation or fundraising to support our vital work.
