A LOOK BACK IN TIME - 27.10.2004
The fixture between Red Arrows and Mackadown Social in the Forest of Arden Winter League was a real high scoring affair this week with Arrows notching eleven tons and over and Mackadown thirteen. However, despite out-tonning the opposition Harvester finished on the wrong side of the 5-4 result and in the process suffered their first defeat in the opening seven games of the campaign.
At the other end of the table two teams without a win Greville Arms and Sheldon Ivy Leaf squared up to each other on the Greville board. Although they had home advantage the Greville players were unable to make it count and went down 5-4 to remain rooted at the foot of the table.
Harvester were also 5-4 winners at Farringdon Social, while Sheldon Heath Social Flights won comfortably by 7-2 against Greville Arrows.

The first round of the Coronation Shield Pairs Competition was on the agenda for the Four Oaks and District League. Despite outscoring the Sportsmans Rest, Hardy Spicer were unable to convert that advantage into games won and finished up 10-5 losers, Anvil Nomads also won by the same scoreline, P.Allen hitting a maximum in their defeat of Pint Pot. Another player to find the three treble twenties was A.Cole (Old Oscott Arrows) in a 9-6 success over Old Oscott WMC, other teams going through to the next round are, Yenton Exiles, Midland Red, who had the biggest win of the round, 11-4 against Barn Social, Good Hope Flights and Hill Social.

With Station Hotel, leaders of the Small Heath Summer League having their match with Gunmakers Arms cancelled, second in the table Victoria 301 Club took the opportunity to reduce the arrears just two points by beating Ward End Ex Service Club 5-4. M.Westmorland hit a maximum for third placed McVeighs, but it was not enough to avoid a 5-4 defeat at the hands of the Innisfree team.

It was second playing third in division one of the Tamworth Cue Sports League this week as the Dolphin faced up to the Queens. The result was a 5-3 win for the Dolphin who now are four points ahead of their nearest rivals with a game in hand, but they are still three points adrift of leaders Globe, who won 6-2 at the Plough and Harrow. Both teams have played 13 games.
In the second division, for only the second time in 13 outings Red Lion ’A’ finished on the losing side. It was Cue Sports who handed out the surprise 5-3 defeat to Red Lion, nevertheless, they still hold on to pole position with 20 points. Boot (Warton) are the nearest threat to Red Lion, they won 5-3 against Three Horse Shoes and have 16 points, with a match in hand.
