In division one of the Harborne and District Summer League E. Simpson, from the George chalked up a 160 break in the home tie against the Hillyfields. However, it turned out that Simpson’s efforts were not enough as his side slumped to a 7-3 defeat in a very high scoring encounter, George notching 10 three figure scores to their opponents 23.The Raven also lost 7-3 at home as they played hosts to the Pheasant. In the other first division games there were 6-4 wins for Smethwick Labour Club, Quinborne Flights and Midland Red against respective opponents Quinton Members, Bartley Green F.C. and the Cock Inn.

In the second division there was a 160 break for M.Dugmore. Dugmore recorded his break in a 7-3 win for the Old Mill as they beat Harborne Stores 7-3, the same margin by which Colwyn and W.C.WMC Ladies in turn beat Avenue Social and Highlander Flights. Stonehouse Flights and Greenlands finished all square at five each.

Congratulations to Birmingham Midland Red, who with a total of 198 points have won the Warwickshire Men’s Super League title, Bedworth Cherry Tree ended the season as runners up some twelve points adrift of the champions Birmingham Midland Red.

Martin Angell had the highest game average of the campaign 35.79, while the highest finish of 164 went to Tony Brown. A total of eight players shared the least darts, an eleven darts game, and they were Mark Hollyoake, Steve Dwyer, Darren Jones, Jim Kiernan, Martin Angell, Robert Earl, John Morris jnr and Prakash Jiwa.

Warwickshire wound up their season in the premier division of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships and finished in a very respectable fourth position with 181 points behind Staffordshire (185), Cambridgeshire (189) and champions Yorkshire (217), a special word for the ladies ’A’ team who ended as champions of their division. With 34 points they were three better than both runners up Essex and third placed Staffordshire.

The Sheldon and District Summer League will be staging their Vice Presidents and Jubilee Trophies. The Vice Presidents event is for the players from each of the three divisions with the most wins. Taking part will be Andy Hutchings (Premier - Highwood), Neil Parsonage (Division One - Banbury Club) and Anthony Dews (Division Two - Millhouse). The Jubilee Trophy is for team secretaries and league officials.

A 5-3 win over Queens Head has seen the Globe open up an eight points lead at the top of division one of the Tamworth Cue Sports League. In the second division it could not be closer as Mercian and Kettlebrook Club are locked together on 18 points following Mercian gaining a massive 6-2 victory over their nearest rivals.

Neil Parsonage (Gunmakers Arms) is the new singles champion of the Small Heath League. Neil’s final hurdle came in the shape of Mitre’s Trevor Frost, but he overcame the challenge to lift the title. Losing semi finalists were Mick O’Sullivan (Victoria 301 Club) and Darren Brown (Custard House).

Making their exits in the quarter finals were, Alan Wilcock (Custard House), Dave Carter (Innisfree), Chris Stokes (Victoria 301 Club) and Clive Sadler (Ward End Ex Service Club).
