Good Hope Flights, the early pacesetters in the Four Oaks and District League, have now dropped into third place in the table following their shock 5-4 reversal at the hands of the Hardy Spicer team. Good Hope are on the same fourteen points as Kingstanding Ex Servicemen’s and Old Oscott WMC, but four behind leaders Midland Red. Midland Red had a 6-3 win at Barn Social, Old Oscott WMC winning by the same margin at Anvil Nomads, while Kingstanding Ex Servicemen won 7-2 in their away game against Old Oscott Arrows.

A.Pritchett was Rose and Crown’s top scorer as he notched a maximum in their 6-3 win over Bromford Lions.

In the Harborne and District 301 Winter League Hillyfields and Midland Red shared a 31 ton thriller with the former just getting the 5-4 verdict. Bartley Green F.C. broke their duck as they chalked up their first win of the campaign, a 5-4 home win against New Inns. Raven lost ground in the title race as they slipped up at the Pheasant, going down by a similar 5-4 scoreline.

W.C. WMC had a good 7-2 success in their away game at the Highlander, while both Cock Inn and Old Mill both recorded 5-4 home wins over respective opponents Harborne Stores and Stonehouse.

The Small Heath league played two previously cancelled games. Leaders Bromford Bridge Members Club ’A’ took on lowly Wagon and Horses and handed out a 9-0 whitewash to extend their advantage to four points over their nearest rivals Mitre. In the other fixture Victoria Flights had a surprisingly comfortable 7-2 win over Gunmakers Arms.

The Challenge Cup was on the Tamworth Cue Sports League agenda. In the division one quarter finals there were wins for Dolphin, Red Lion ’A’, Queens Head ’A’ and White Lion at the expense in turn of Two Gates Club, Globe, Cue Sports Club and Red Lion ’B’. The two Lion’s made their exits in the semi’s, Red Lion ’A’ to the Dolphin and WHite Lion lost to Queens Head ’A’.

In the second division contest there were wins for Three Horse Shoes and Royal Oak in the semi’s as they beat respective opponents Queens Head ’B’ and Hopwas Club.

The two finals will take place on the 9th March.
