A LOOK BACK IN TIME - 05.01.2005
Midland Red have lost their pole position in division one of the Four Oaks and District League following a 6-3 defeat at Yenton Exiles. A 5-4 win by Old Oscott Arrows over Hill Social has seen them take over the number one spot with twelve points, two more than the Red’s. Old Oscott WMC are now second on a similar dozen points to their local rivals Arrows, after their 5-4 win at Anvil Nomads. Midland Red have now slipped to third in the table, with fourth placed Yenton on the same number of points. A.Stainfield recorded a 160 break for Yenton.
In division two the top two teams, Good Hope Flights and Barn Social both finished on the wrong side of a 6-3 scoreline against respective opponents Hardy Spicer and the Leopard. Good Hope hang on to their number one position, but only on average as Bromford Lions, who beat Boldmere Sports 7-2 have taken over second place and Barn Social dropped to third. All three teams have ten points, with Bromford Lions and Barn Social having a game in hand on Good Hope.

After the opening two games in the Small Heath League just four teams remain undefeated with only two legs of average separating them. A 6-3 win at the Gunmakers Arms has seen Victoria 301 Club move to top of the table, with Mitre, who claimed their game against Victoria Pub second. In third place is Ward End Ex Service Club, who had a 6-3 win at Victoria Flights and fourth is Custard House, who beat Comet by the same margin.

Saltley Amateur Gardeners kept up their bid for the premier division honours in the Sheldon and District Winter League with a 7-2 win at the Three Horse Shoes. Saltley’s nearest rivals Fordbridge Social and Highwood played each other the former, with a maximum from J.Pears getting the all-important 7-2 result.
In division one three of the top four teams maintained their push for promotion as Banbury Club won 6-3 at Vaughans and by the same margin RAFA beat Sheldon Social. Two local rivals, Shard End RBL ’A’ and Shard End Social played each other with RBL just edging out the Social by 5-4.
There was a shock for division two’s Old Bill and Bull as they travelled to Small Heath Gardeners and finished on the wrong side of a 6-3 scoreline.
Tomorrow night the league will be staging the quarter finals of their League Cup, the draw being as follows, Premier Division, Fordbridge Social v Glebe Community Centre, Iron Horse v Three Horse Shoes, Highwood v Sheldon Dukes, Toby Jug v Saltley Amateur Gardeners, Division One, Lea Hall Sports and Social v Raven, British Telecom Club v Sheldon Social, Stechford Social v Vaughans, Harvester v RAFA, Division Two< Gunmakers Arms v Small Heath Amateur Gardeners, Millhouse v Sheldon and Marlboro, Old Bill and Bull v Yardley Ex Service Colts, Victoria Social v Shard End RBL Flights.
