West Midlands, in division three, will be hoping that 2005 is going to be better than 2004 and indeed it needs to be if they are to stand any chance of promotion to the second division as in four fixtures they have currently won one and lost three, not exactly promotion results. Nevertheless, with five more games to play there is still time to put together a winning run and gain promotion. They restart their fixture card with a home tie against Clwyd.

The Forest of Arden Winter League has kicked off after the holiday break with the final for their Presidents Cup. Playing at the Mackadown Sports and Social Club the two finalists were league leaders Red Arrows and Farringdon Social.

With wins from J.Cartmell, M.Duggan, A.Price and I.Spencer for Red Arrows and N.Lumley, B.Phipps, A.Sleath plus in the doubles A.Sleath and P.Newton the scoreline was delicately poised at four each with one more doubles game to be played. The very close 5-4 result went somewhat surprisingly to Farringdon Social when N.Lumley and R.Read beat their counterparts I.Spencer and A.Price.
