It was finals week in the Four Oaks and District League, playing off the finals of both the Coronation Shield and Norman Day Cup.

The Coronation Shield title went to league winners Midland Red, a convincing 12-3 success against Old Oscott Arrows, who finished third in the table behind Yenton Exiles. Another Old Oscott team, this time Old Oscott WMC, were runners up in the Norman Day Cup. They lost the final against Hardy Spicer by a very close 8-7 scoreline.

Both of the top two teams in the premier division of the Sheldon and District Winter League had substantial wins this week. Leaders Saltley Amateur Gardeners won 8-1 at Sheldon Dukes, while second placed Fordbridge Social, who are two points adrift of Saltley with a game in hand, handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their hosts Glebe Community Centre. In the match at Castle Vale Residents Association, B.Charlton had a 160 break fro the home side, while G.Pagett hit a 180 for the visitors, Three Horse Shoes. The 7-2 result went in favour of Castle Vale.

There was a top of the table clash in division one, leaders Shard End RBL taking on second in the table Sheldon Social. Sheldon were the team who got the points, a vital 6-3 win. No such problems for division two leaders Yardley Ex Service Colts, they hung on to their six point’s advantage over Old Bill and Bull with a 5-4 verdict over Sheldon and Marlboro.

Tomorrow night the league stages the semi-finals of their league cup. The full draw is,  in the premier Highwood v Fordbridge Social, Three Horse Shoes v Toby Jug, division one, Lea Hall Sports and Social v Sheldon Social, RAFA v Stechford Social, division two, Millhouse v Small Heath Gardeners, Shard End RBL Flights v Old Bill and Bull.

After completing only eight fixtures Robbie Earl has already opened up a ten points lead in the Brookmeadow Individual League. However, this week he actually dropped his first leg. With seven 3-0 wins under his belt he took on third in the table John Whitehouse, who had lost his previous game against Mark Elkin 3-0. The result was 2-1 to Earl.

In the quarter finals of the league’s singles Keith Kelly had a straight 3-0 victory over Andy Smith.

The Small Heath League have been busy with their Delegates and Ladies Knockout Competitions. In Group One of the Delegates John McCaffrey (Innisfree) beat Brendon Lysaght (Mitre) 2-0. Mitre’s Clive Austin recorded a similar result in the Group Two final against Steve Beddows (Wagon and Horses). The Group Three final went the full three legs distance with Neil Parsonage (Gunmakers Arms) just edging out Paddy O’Sullivan (Victoria Flights).

Globe, continue to hold on to pole position in division one of the Tamworth Cue Sports League following a 5-3 win at the Queens. They lead Dolphin by three points, who also won 5-3 in their fixture with red Lion ’A’.

In the second division Kettlebrook have moved into the number one spot after beating their nearest rivals Mercian 5-3, the gap between the two teams is now one point.
