The Four Oaks and District League played a couple of outstanding fixtures this week, and what an important game it was in division two. Good Hope Flights were hosts to Barn Social. The result was a very close 5-4 in favour of the visitors, but it was two points that gave Barn Social the divisional title and leaving Bromford Lions as runners up.

In division one Sportsmans Rest took on Anvil Nomads. Again the scoreline was 5-4 and once more it was the away team that got the verdict, this time Anvil Nomads.

Round one of the Denis Houlders Trophy was on the agenda for the Sheldon and District Winter League. Three teams won by a 5-0 margin, Sedgemere, Banbury Club and Saltley Amateur Gardeners ‘B’, who in turn defeated Highwood, Victoria and Glebe Community Centre Flights.

Other teams to win through to the second round were, Iron Horse Flights, Saltley Amateur Gardeners ’A’, Malt Shovel ’A’, Three Horse Shoes ’B’, Sheldon Dukes, Shard End RBL Flights, Fordbridge Social ’B’, Small Heath Gardeners ’B’, Malt Shovel ’B’, Raven ’B’ and Sheldon Heath Social Club.

On the individual scene Tony Randell (Saltley Amateur Gardeners ’A’) had a 160 break and Carl Winters (Raven ’B’) hit a maximum.

Robbie Earl has stretched his unbeaten run in the Brookmeadow Individual League to six games. Not only has he won all six fixtures so far, but he has won them all 3-0. Earl’s latest victims were, Terry Blakemore, in which he hit 180,140,120 and 4x100, then with 140 and 100 he beat Dave Elkin.

John Whitehouse is Earl’s nearest rival, two points adrift on 28. Whitehouse had a 3-0 win against Gareth Lomas and won 2-1 in his game with Andy Smith.

----------------------------------

Mitre extended their 100% record to nine games in the Small Heath League. Their narrow 5-4 verdict at home to Gunmakers Arms keeps them two points ahead of Custard House, who won by the same margin at the Victoria 301 Club. Third placed Ward End Ex Service Club lost ground as they went down 5-4 at home to Bromford Social Club. Ward End and the 301 Club are now six points behind the leaders.

The Forest of Arden Summer League will be holding their AGM at Sheldon Heath Social on Wednesday 13th April at 8-00pm. Anyone interested in entering a team into the league for the forthcoming season should attend this meeting.
