A Look Back In Time 11.01.2006
The Brook Meadow Individual League have completed another two matches and leader Mark Birch continues to impress has he notched up another two victories. First Birch took on Ian McFarlane and although McFarlane had scores of 180,2x140 and 5x100 it was Birch who got the close 2-1 verdict. Game two saw opposition come in the form of Darren Elkin. This time Birch recorded a clear 3-0 win. Simon Winters had two 3-0 wins against John Whitehouse and Jason Evans, with Whitehouse hitting a maximum. Mark Elkin was another player to find the three treble twenties and finish on the losing side of a 3-0 scoreline as he went down to Robbie Earl, earl also beating Terry Blakemore by the same margin. One player to hit a 180 and actually win was Carl Winters. Winters got the better of Jason Evans with a 2-1 result.

The Divisional League Cup quarter finals were on the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Winter League. In the premier division Highwood were the biggest winners as they romped to an 8-1 win at the Hen and Chickens. Shard End RBL ’A’ won their home tie with Mackadown Social by 6-3, T.Kelly hitting a maximum for the losers. Fordbridge Social won by the same score at the Malt Shovel, while with a 180 from M.Birch, Brook Meadow beat Saltley Amateur Gardeners 5-4, J.Evans having a 160 break for the Gardeners.
In division one Raven were the top shots with a 6-3 verdict at home to Shard End Social. The remaining three games all finished with close 5-4 results, wins for RAFA, Yardley Ex Colts and Stechford Social at the expense in turn of Pavilions, Old Bill and Bull and Banbury Club.
Progressing into the last four in division two were Gables Tavern, Colwyn, Harvester and Farringdon Social, who beat respective opponents Kingshurst Labour Club, Gunmakers Arms, Yardley Ex Flights and Small Heath Amateur Gardeners, all four games finished with a 6-3 result.

The Small Heath League had their Doubles Knockout on their agenda and taking the title were Bromford Bridge Members Club ‘A’ representatives Martin Cooper and Ross Macken. Losing out in the final were Brendan Lysaght and Mark Kane.
Making their exits in the last four were Darren Brown / Robbie Vann (Custard House) and Clive Austin / Dean Bond (Mitre).

Royal Oak began the new year where they left the old in division two of the Tamworth Cue Sports League, winning. They maintained their two points lead at the top of the table with a 5-3 win over Hopwas Club. Second placed Three Horse Shoes had a more comfortable 6-2 success in their game at the Mercian.
In division one just one leg of average separates the top two teams. Both Globe and Queens Head ’A’ won 5-3 in turn against their opponents Two Gates Club and Dolphin. Both teams now have 17 points, but Globe have 52 legs for opposed to Queens Head’s 51.
