A Look Back In Time 18.01.2006
This coming weekend Warwickshire Darts Organisation will be playing hosts to Yorkshire at the Canley Sports and Social Club, Marler Road, Coventry. In this the middle of the season fixture, despite taking on what is always a strong Yorkshire outfit, the home side will be hoping to improve on their record so far which has seen them win on just one occasion in four outings.

The top five teams in the Four Oaks and District League all recorded wins in their latest fixtures. At the midway stage Midland Red, with a 5-4 win over Old Oscott Arrows, lead the field and have a four points advantage over the three chasing teams, Kingstanding Ex Servicemen’s, Old Oscott WMC and Good Hope Flights, who in turn defeated Bromford Lions, Hardy Spicer and Hill Social.
Top individual performances came from C.Vickers (Hill Social) who had a 160 break and a thought should be spared for J.Collins (Bromford Lions) who had two 108 breaks scored 121,177 and 131 but went down to Kingstanding’s J.Morris, who had 120 break and 2x140.

Mark Birch has had his lead cut back to just one point in the Brook Meadow Individual League following a 2-1 defeat to Robbie Earl in match thirteen. However, he recovered quickly to defeat Paul Hogan 3-0. Ian McFarlane has taken over the number two spot, he hit a maximum in his 2-1 win against Jason Evans and then went on to beat Simon Winters 3-0. A further three points behind McFarlane is Jason Evans on 48 points. Evans was another player to hit a 180 as he won 3-0 against Darren Elkin.

There was a top of the table clash in the Small Heath League when leaders Bromford Bridge Members Club ‘A’ travelled to take on their nearest rivals Mitre. The result was a 6-3 victory for the Mitre, Bromford’s first loss in eleven outings, but nevertheless, they remain in pole position, still with a four points advantage over Mitre, who do have a game in hand.

It’s still neck and neck in division one of the Tamworth Cue Sports League, the top two teams, Globe and Queens Head ’A’ both on 19 points and both chalking up 5-3 wins against respective opponents Red Lion ’B’ and Red Lion ’A’.
It’s as you were in division two, Royal Oak, in pole position on 19 points beat Glascote Club 5-3, while second placed Three Horse Shoes won 6-2 against Queens Head ’B’ and remain two points adrift.

Barmy Army continue to lead the field in the G.U.L.P. Charity League after a 5-2 win against Victoria Beasts. Red Devils take over at the top of the shadow league following a 5-2 win over fellow shadow league contenders Red Lion Flights.
