180’s were the order of the day this week with no fewer than six being hit in the Sheldon and District Summer League . In group one J.Pears hit a maximum and recorded an eleven darts game in Fordbridge Social’s 5-3 win over Sheldon Dukes. In another 5-3 win, this time for Mackadown Sports and Social against RAFA, M.Heaven hit a 180 for the winners. In group two there was a maximum each for Two Hands and Glebe Community Centre, C.Betteridge for Two Hands and J.Evans for Glebe, while the 5-3 verdict went in favour of the Glebe.

D.Timmins (Lea Hall Sports and Social) was group three’s top shot as his side roared to a 6-2 win over Yardley Ex Service Colts, and rounding off the half a dozen was M.Sheen whose group five team, Millhouse won 5-3 at Gunmakers Arms.

The league will be staging round one of their Mrs F. Richman Trophy tomorrow night, the draw being, Fordbridge v Yardley Ex Flights, Old Bill and Bull v Shard End Social Club, Sheldon Heath Social Club v Harvester, RAFA v Lea Hall Sports and Social, Glebe Community Centre v Mackadown Social, Iron Horse v Shard End RBL ‘A’, Yardley Ex Colts v Banbury Club, Kingshurst Labour Club v Graduate, Millhouse v Vaughans, Shard End RBL Flights v Raven, Bromford Bridge Members Club v Sedgemere, Gunmakers Arms v Sheldon Dukes, Brook meadow v Saltley Amateur Gardeners, Small Heath Gardeners v Stechford Social, Malt Shovel v Victoria, Two Hands v Willclare Social.

Mark Birch increased his lead at the top of the Brookmeadow Individual League to five points as he beat David Elkin and Paul Smith 3-0. Reigning champion Robbie Earl is second in the table, he had a 2-1 win over Andy Smith and followed that with a 3-0 success against Mark Showering. Keith Kelly hit the only maximum of the week in his 3-0 win against David Elkin.

The Tamworth Cue Sports League has been playing off their doubles knockout. The eventual winning partnership was that of Sam Whittaker and Peter Albrighton, who in the final disposed of Chris Payne and Andy Starkey.

The league are on the lookout for more teams to join them in the forthcoming season. Anyone interested in entering a team or requiring any further information should contact John Young on 0121-784-9112.

The Small Heath League has been engaged in their Mixed Doubles Competition, with Innisfree duo Gloria Lightwood and John McCaffrey taking the honours. Runners up were the Mitre pairing of Helen Davies and Trevor Frost, while losing out in the last four were Jean Forde / Arthur Forde (Innisfree) and Sue Hanlon / Terry Webster (Gunmakers Arms).

 A final reminder that this coming weekend the Warwickshire Darts Organisation will be presenting the Guinness Open    (Saturday) and the Warwickshire Midland Open (Sunday). The events will be staged at Barras Social Club, Coventry Street, Coventry.

The winner of the Guinness Open will receive a guaranteed £250, with all entry fees on the day paid out, while the eventual champion of the Midland Open will collect a cool £1,000, with prize money paid to the last sixteen players.
