It remains as you were at the top of the Brookmeadow Individual League as both the leader, Mark Birch and his nearest rival, reigning champion Robbie Earl both chalked up two 3-0 victories. Birch accounted for Keith Kelly and John Whitehouse, while Earl defeated Alan Smith and Gareth Lomas.

Earl and Lomas both hit a maximum, Birch, in his encounter with John Whitehouse recorded scores of 145,3x140,124,2x100 and a 101finish.

Week ten of the Harborne and District Summer League saw a mixture of big wins and big scores. In division one Bartley Green F.C. had a 6-1 success at home to Smethwick Labour Club. J.Good (Hillyfields) found the three treble twenties, while P.Brotherton (Midland Red) broke with 160, Hillyfields won the match 4-3. In the same division Quinborne Flights beat the George 5-2 thanks to 180’s from both K.Harding and D.Arnold.

In the second division there was a maximum for B.Andrews (Greenlands) and S.Passetti (W.C.WMC Ladies), with the ladies winning 4-3. Biggest winners in division two were Avenue Social Club, who beat Harborne Stores 5-2.

The finals of the Challenge Cup were on the fixture card for the Tamworth Cue Sports League and it was Three Horse Shoes who got the final verdict over Royal Oak (Kingsbury).

A reminder that the league are on the lookout for more teams to join them in the forthcoming campaign. The A.G.M. will be held at the league headquarters, the Queens on the A5, Tamworth this coming Sunday, 24th July at 11.00am. Anyone wishing to enter a team in the league should attend this meeting.

Mitre continue to hold on to their six points lead as they head the Small Heath League on 34 points. Mitre’s latest success was a massive 8-1 victory over Victoria Flights, while second in the table Custard House travelled to bottom of the table Victoria Inn and returned with a 7-2 win.

Gunmakers Arms, despite having a bye this week maintained their four point’s advantage at the top of the shadow league as their nearest rivals, McVeighs lost 7-2 at Ward End Ex Service Club.

Three games were played in the G.U.L.P. Charity League and all three finished with 5-2 scorelines. There were wins for Malt Shovel, Tigers and Tribe in turn at the expense of Victoria 301 Club, Hardy Spicer and Red Devils.

Moseley Cricket Club registered their second win in seven outings in division three of the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League as they accounted for Tascos Flights with a 4-3 margin.

It was definitely not a Bournbrook night in the second division, but it was a Longbridge one as Bournbrook Arrows went down 4-3 at Longbridge United and Bournbrook Flights lost 5-2 at Longbridge 26ers.
