A Look Back In Time - 14.12.2005

It was not a good end to the year for the Warwickshire Darts Organisation as they finished 2005 with a defeat. Playing away to Hampshire the fixture began with a 5-1 reversal for the ladies ‘B’, Betty Sinnett (16.92) their sole winner. However, the day finished on a high as the men’s ‘B’ chalked up an 8-4 victory with Mark Westgarth (25.32) their top player.

In Sunday’s games the ladies, who took a 2-0 lead then found themselves trailing 3-2 and thanks to  a last game win from Lesley Newcombe earned a hard fought 3-3 draw. Viki Franklin, with a 23.40 average claimed the match award, while Clare Bywates suffered a rare 3-1 defeat at the hands of Wendy Reinstadler.

Requiring a win for an overall team success the men finished on the wrong side of an 8-4 scoreline to give a final 20-16 win to the hosts. Tom Aldridge (28.36) was the ’A’ side’s man of the match.
