A LOOK BACK IN TIME - 15.09.2004
For the second week running Ricky Lawrence has won the ‘A’ knockout in the Brookmeadow Knockout League. Lawrence beat second in the table Gordon Clinton in the semi-finals 3-1, despite a maximum from Clinton. He then went on to win the final against Brendon Lysaught with another 3-1 verdict to give him a total of 26 points to hold on to pole position. Clinton has 20 points with John Goodman a further two points adrift in third place.
Winner of the ’B’ knockout was last season’s Brookmeadow Individual League champion Robert Earl. Although John Goodman produced a 120 outshot in the final Earl, with a 180 went on to win 2-1.Earl has now moved up into joint fourth place on the same sixteen points as John Whitehouse and Mark Showering.

The Sheldon and District Summer League have completed their fixture list and the champions for each of the six groups are, group one, Saltley Amateur Gardeners, group two, Mackadown Social, group three, Stechford Social, group four, Banbury Club, group five, Bromford Bridge Members Club, group six, Gunmakers Arms.
Two players, T.C. Webster (Banbury Club) and R.Agar (Pavilions group five) went through the season without losing a game.
The league has also been involved in the fianls of their Mrs F.Richman Trophy. In the semi finals Three Horse Shoes handed out a 7-0m whitewash to Iron Horse, whose R.Earl hit a maximum, the other last four winners were Malt Shovel, who also had a convincing 6-1 victory over Stechford Social.
The final 5-2 verdict went in favour of the Three Horse Shoes. P.Taylor (Malt Shovel) was named as player of the final, he hit a 180 in the final.

In the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League division one leader’s Stirchley United WMC travelled to take on third placed Selly Oak Flights. A close result was expected, but despite a tremendous 160 break from the home team’s J.Warman the final scoreline was a 7-0 whitewash in favour of Stirchley United.
In division three the match between Tascos Flights and Bournbrook Flights went right to the wire, with the result hinging on the game between Margaret Ball (Tascos) and Carol Twigg. To play the game Carol had to borrow a set of darts from her friend Sheila Crowe. Nevertheless Carol with a straight 2-0 win earned her team mates a 4-3 victory.

The Globe, leaders of division one in the Tamworth Cue Sports League, were held to a 4-4 home draw by White Lion this week and have had their advantage reduced to only two points as second in the table Dolphin chalked up a massive 7-1 success in their away game at the Plough and Harrow. Third placed Queens are aslo on 11 points following their 5-3 win at Red Lion ‘B’, but they have played one game more than the two teams above them.
Division two produced two top of the table clashes as leaders Red Lion ‘A’ travelled to fourth placed Kettlebrook and second in the league Cue Sports Club took on Three Horse Shoes, who are third. Both games finished all square at 4-4.
