An 8-1 home win over Greville Arrows keeps Red Arrows flying high in pole position in the Forest of Arden Winter League. Arrows have a total of 24 points, two more than their nearest rivals Mackadown Sports and Social, who travelled to play against their nearest rivals Sheldon Heath Flights. With only two points separating them a win was vital for both. As expected the result was a close 5-4, going to the hosts, leaving them two points adrift of the leaders, but four points clear of Sheldon Heath Flights.

In division one of the Four Oaks and District League, Yenton Exiles played their scheduled fixture against Hill Social, which they won 6-3 and also their rearranged match with Pint Pot in which they recorded another 6-3 win. The two wins have taken Yenton into the number one spot with 14 points from nine games. Three teams, Midland Red, Old Oscott Arrows and Old Oscott WMC have 12 points. However Old Oscott WMC have played one game fewer than both the other two and Yenton.

With six wins Bromford Lions head division two, but only on average as Barn Social have also won the same number of games. In their latest fixtures both had 8-1 wins, Bromford beat the Saints and Barn accounted for Hardy Spicer.

There were wins for the top teams in division one of the Harborne and District Winter League, as the George, with a 180 from M.Ingram and a seven darts game by E.Simpson, defeated New Inns 7-3 and by a similar margin Midland Red beat Smethwick Labour Club. Raven had the beat win, an 8-1 verdict at W.C. WMC, B.Davenport another player to hit a maximum.

In the second division Quinborne Flights returned from Stonehouse Flights with an 8-2 win, while Highlander Flights suffered an upset as Quinton Members Club beat them 7-3.

----------------------------------

In the Small Heath League the preliminary round of the KO Cup has been played off. The only real surprise was that league leaders Ward End Ex Service Club lost 5-2 at home to Victoria 301 Club who are third in the table. In the other two games Victoria Pub beat Victoria Flights 5-4 and Mitre had a 6-3 win over Wagon and Horses.

On the league front it was business as usual as Ward End made it three wins in as many games with a 7-2 win against Gunmakers Arms to keep them two points clear of Mitre, Victoria 301 Club and Custard House. Victoria 301 Club losing their unbeaten record as Mitre thrashed them 8-1.

The League Cup quarter finals were on the agenda for the Sheldon and District Winter League. Premier division leaders Saltley Amateur Gardeners went down 5-4 at the Toby Jug. No such problem for Fordbridge Social as they romped to an 9-1 victory over Glebe Community Centre. Three Horse Shoes and Highwood will join the two winners in the semi-finals.

Winning through in division one were Lea Hall Sports and Social, Sheldon Social (P.Carroll 180), RAFA and Stechford Social. Into the last four for the second division are Small Heath Gardeners, Millhouse, Old Bill and Bull and Shard End RBL Flights.

----------------------------------

Birmingham Midland Red lead the way in the Warwickshire Men’s Super League with 124 points. Second to the Reds are Bedworth Cherry Tree who are sixteen points behind but do have a game in hand. The position is much closer at the other end of the table where Coventry Bishopsgate and Birmingham Erdington are locked together on 38 points.
