Warwickshire complete their premier division fixture card in the BDO Inter Counties Championship this coming weekend, a home tie against Cheshire at the Canley Sports and Social Club, Coventry. Having lost the last three games, Warwickshire will be hoping to end the campaign on a high and beat their counterparts.

Robert Earl continues to impress in the Brookmeadow Individual League. As early as the second week he has opened up a three points lead over the rest of the field. This week Earl had a 3-0 win against Terry Blakemore and a 2-1 success over Gordon Clinton, who last week was joint top with Earl. Clinton quickly recovered from his setback and went on to beat Peter Stevens 2-1. He is now joint third with Ricky Lawrence on fifteen points, Pat Koyce, with 2-1 wins over Peter Stevens and Trevor Frost has leapfrogged Clinton to take over second place on sixteen points.

Hitting the headlines with maximums this week are, Robert Earl, Trevor Frost, Mark Elkin, John Goodman and Gordon Clinton.

The Four Oaks and District Winter League have been engaged in a couple of their cup finals, first the Coronation Shield in which the Anvil defeated the Greyhound by 9-6. Yenton Settlers won the Norman Day Cup by a similar margin, with Hardy Spicer having to settle for the runners up spot.

The quarter-finals of the Sheldon Shield was on the agenda for the Sheldon and District Winter League. Biggest winners were Shard End RBL, who with a 7-2 scoreline accounted for Vaughans. The remaining three games all finished with a close 5-4 verdict. Winners were Hen and Chickens, EBAHA and Glebe Community Centre, who in turn booked their passage to the semi’s at the expense of Banbury Club, RAFA and Fordbridge Social.

The Longwood Winter League has played off their divisional singles knockouts. Lifting the crown in division one was Andy Hanslow, who had a final success against Paul Whittaker. Losing semi-finalists were Mark Martin and Sam Whittaker.

In division two it was Ian Turner who claimed the honours and Gary Day having to settle for the runners up position. Making their exit in the last four were Mac Starling and Neil Warner.

The Harborne and District Winter League will be staging their Craig Beesley Memorial Trophy this coming Friday. The event will get underway at 8-00pm. Anyone requiring any further information should contact league secretary Eileen Startin on 0121-477-2061.
