Mark Birch has once again taken over as clear leader in the Brook Meadow Individual League after beating Keith Kelly 3-0. Mark now has a total of 77 points, with reigning champion Robbie Earl five points adrift with a game in hand.

Round two of the Mrs F. Richman Trophy was on the fixture card for the Sheldon and District Summer League and winning their way through to the next round were Harvester, Malt Shovel, Shard End RBL ‘A’, Brook Meadow, Mackadown Social, Bromford Bridge Members Club and Shard End Social. Best individual performances came from R.Lawrence 122 finish, K.Kelly 142 finish (Brook Meadow), T.Frost 180, C.Checketts 177, B.Lysaght 180 (Bromford Bridge) and M.Wilcock 152 finish (Willclare Social).

Hillyfields continue to dominate division one of the Harborne and District Summer League, extending their unbeaten run to fourteen games with a clear cut 6-1 away win over the Cock Inn. Second placed Midland Red have won ten of their twelve matches, adding another two points to their tally with a 5-2 win at the Pheasant.
Colwyn, with a 5-2 win over Bartley Green Flights hold on to their four points advantage over the Old Mill in division two, Old Mill having a close 4-3 home win over Avenue Social.

The Small Heath league rounded off their season with three outstanding fixtures. Champions Mitre defeated bottom of the table Victoria Inn 6-3. Victoria Inn then turned the scoreline around to beat Bromford Social Club, only their second win in 20 outings. The final fixture was saw Ward End Ex Service Club chalk up a convincing 8-1 win to finish third in the table.

Tascos Flights pairing Maddie Mann and Ian Clements are the new South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League mixed doubles champions. Playing at Stirchley United WMC the winning duo beat Kelly Cahill and Terry Cahill in the final.
The league suffered a sad loss recently when one of their longest and most dedicated members, George Bird, at the age of 80 passed away following a stroke.
George, a member of the Stirchley United WMC team was a credit to the sport of darts, a true gentleman both in success and defeat, he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

K.McKeown was on the mark for the Navigation, hitting a maximum in his side’s 6-3 win at Greenlands in the Rik-Fit Summer League. Another player to find the three treble twenties was T.Cahill (Greenlands Flights), hie team also won 6-3, at the expense of the Old Mill.

Perfection lived almost up to their name in the Kings Norton 501 Summer League as the accounted for Greenwood with a 6-1 result. Man on the Moon were not far behind with their 5-2 success against Hobsons Choice.
Hitting a top score of 180 were T.Cahill (Man on the Moon), L.Phillips (Hobsons Choice) and S.Riddick (Camp).

The British Champions Cup regional play off at Canley Sports and Social Club, Marler Road, Canley, Coventry, saw West Midlands emerge as the men’s champions. The local county beat Bedfordshire 5-4 in the semi-finals and then went on to earn a place in the grand finals at Derby on Sunday 8th August, with a 5-2 win over Leicestershire in the final. Warwickshire went out of the competition in the semis, losing 6-3 to Leicestershire.
In the ladies event Warwickshire and West Midlands made their exits in the last four. Warwickshire lost 4-3 to Cambridgeshire and West Midlands 5-2 to Bedfordshire. Cambridgeshire won the final 5-2.
