
A Look Back In Time 25.10.2006
On the weekend of the 4th and 5th of November, the Warwickshire Darts Organisation will be on their travels again, when for the second consecutive premier division fixture in the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships they head south to Chelmsford Social Club to take on Essex in what will be their third match of the season.
After an opening day disaster, which saw them lose 27-9 at home to Kent, Warwickshire bounced back in thier last outing away to Cornwall by recording a 19-17 victory. The Four Oaks and District League have been busy with the latest round of their doubles competition the Coronation Shield. Biggest win of the round went to Midland Red who chalked up a massive 13-2 success in their home tie with Old Oscott WMC. Not far behind the Reds were Sportsmans Rest who won their tie at Bromford Lions 12-3. Boldmere Sports had a comfortable 10-5 home win over the Plough, while Anvil Nomads won their away game against the Acorn 9-6.
The remaining three games all finished with close 8-7 scorelines and saw Boot Flights, Hardy Spicer and Old Oscott Arrows all go through to the next round at the expense of Barn Social, Hill Social and Deer’s Leap. In the match between Hardy Spicer and Hill Social, M.Austin hit a maximum for former and T.Vickers emulated the feat for the latter.
Red Lion Flights had a bye.

In their most recent game in division three of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships, West Midlands added a 18-18 away draw against Devon to their opening 19-17 win with Suffolk.
Both men’s teams recorded wins, the ’A’ side beating their counterpart 8-4, with Ian Jones (25.47) taking the match award and the ’B’ side winning 7-5 to maintain a 100% win record for both teams. Colin Wood (24.60) was the ‘B’ team man of the match.
It was not such a good weekend for the ladies as the ‘A’ team finished on the wrong side of a 5-1 result, Julie Aston (16.48) their sole winner. The ‘B’ team did not fare much better as they went down 4-2, Diane Tolley, with a 16.81 average the lady of the match, a share of the points as seen West Midlands take over third place in the table with 41 points, leaving them four points behind second placed Humberside and eight points adrift of leaders Worcestershire. Devon and Suffolk also have 41 points and are fourth and fifth respectively.
