Warwickshire have been quick to respond to their opening day defeat in the premier division of the Kaliber BDO Inter Counties Championships by returning from their visit to Cornwall with a victory.

Saturday’s results were not too impressive as the ladies finished all square at three each with Betty Sinnett (20.85) earning the draw by beating Jane Cummings 3-1 in the final game. The men’s ’B’ after going 2-0 up through man of the match Dave Atkins (28.37) and Ian Scattergood ended the day losing 7-5.

The following day Clare Bywaters (23.53) helped the ladies to a 4-2 win and with the men beating their counterparts 7-5 the overall result was a 19-17 victory for Warwickshire. Dave Honey, with a 27.83 average took the ’A’ teams match award.

For the second consecutive fixture in division one of the Four Oaks and District League Sportsmans Rest have pulled off the great escape. Both of the opening fixtures of the campaign have seen Sportsmans Rest trailing 4-1, firstly away to Midland Red and this week at home against Hardy Spicer. But on each occasion they have fought back to snatch a 5-4 win. Midland Red found themselves trailing 4-3 at Old Oscott WMC, however, they won the last two games to claim a very close 5-4 result. Old Oscott hold on to pole position with yet another 5-4 scoreline, they are now just ahead of Sportsmans Rest on average.

In the second division Boldmere Sports lead the field, their latest result an emphatic 7-2 win at the Plough. Red Lion Flights are currently second, but lost ground on the leaders as they went down 5-4 at Barn Social. L.Chant was in fine scoring form for Red Lion Flights as he chalked up scores of 5x100 and a 180.

The G.U.L.P. Charity League have been engaged in their singles knockout which produced a great night of darts. The final was a very close 2-1 affair with the title going to Terry Webster (The Who’s), who prevented Tony Comerford (Tigers) adding the singles title to his doubles title which he won the previous week.

In the semi’s Webster and Comerford both won 2-0 against respective opponents Colin Walsh (Beasts) and Chris Stokes (Tribe).
