A Look Back In Time 27.09.2006
The Harborne and District 401 Summer League have been busy with the semi-finals of both their League Cup and Consolation Cup semi-finals.
First the league cup which provided no shocks whatsoever as both games saw first division teams taking on second division opponents. Midland Red took on Harborne Stores and despite a maximum from Stores man R.Mann, the Red’s romped to a resounding 7-2 success. The other tie produced two maximums, one from each team. V.Gould was on the mark for Smethwick Labour Club, not only hitting a 180 but also 145,2x100 a 120 break and recorded an 11 darts game. A.Flanagan was the player to find the three treble twenties for the Hiollyfields, but the all-mportant 7-2 result went in favour of Smethwick Labour Club to set up what should be a tremendous final between the top two teams in division one.
The Consolation Cup semi finals were much closer affairs with both games ending with 5-4 scorelines. Raven’s game with Old Mill went right to the wire, the result not being achieved until the very last game, Raven claiming the victory. The tie between Cock Inn and Quinton Members Club also went to the final game, Quinton Members Club the winners and booking their place in the final.
