A LOOK BACK IN TIME - 29.09.2004

As the end of season draws near for the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League the divisional cup finals have been on the agenda. The division one final between Yardley Wood and Greenlands went to the wire, with the result not decided until the very last leg of the match. Chalking up the vital fourth win for Greenlands to give them a 4-3 victory was Kevin Cahill, who beat R. Wood 2-1.

The division two title went to Stirchley Wanderers, who had a convincing 6-1 success against Tascos Social and by a 5-2 margin Solihull Municipal defeated Shenley Lane to take the third division title.

In division one P.Parsonage, with a 156 break helped his side to an 8-1 win at Pavilions, whose M.Turner went one better with a 160 break, Harvester were also on the wrong side of an 8-1 drubbing, nevertheless their P.Franks hit a maximum.

Graham Nailor (Victoria 301 Club) had a 160 break in his team’s 7-2 win at Victoria Flights to lift the team into second spot in the Small Heath Summer League, level on the same 14 points as the 301 club are McVeighs, who beat Gunmakers Arms 5-4 and Custard House, who lost 5-4 at home to current league leaders Station Hotel, who have 18 points. However, Custard House do have the advantage of two games in hand on all three teams above them.
