A Look Back In Time - Alan Towe - 16.1.2001
Peter Allen suffered a setback to his title hopes in the Minworth Social Individual League when despite hitting a maximum he went down to a straight 3-0 win to Gary Mills who is currently eleventh in the table. Although losing Allen remains in pole position with 73 points, his nearest rival now being Tony Randell who on 63 points is ten adrift but has two games in hand. Mark Hollyoake has slipped to third in the league and is fourteen points behind Allen, Hollyoake having played four games fewer than Allen.
Congratulations to Dawn Barnes who chalked up her first win of the campaign when she beat John Ainsworth 2-1. Top scorers with a 180 this week are Tony Randell, Richie Baker, Peter Allen, Gordon Clinton and Barry Stephens.

Congratulations to West Midlands player Wayne Jones on reaching the quarter finals of the Embassy World Championship. Jones finally made his exit when he went down 5-1 to England captain Martin Adams. Although bitterly disappointed not to make the final his £5500 will hopefully ease some of the pain.
