Farringdon Social recorded a rare win in the Forest of Arden Winter League beating Cock and Hens 6-3 and helping them on their way was Neil Lumley who in addition to 122 and 100 breaks and a score of 121, also notched two maximums. Red Arrows continued to impress with a convincing 7-2 home win over Stechford Social.

In the Harborne and District Winter League Punchbowl were in top form, G.Smith recording a maximum 170 break and D.Bourne a maximum score of 180 to help them to an 8-1 success over Hillyfields. Bartley Green Social Club kept up their challenge for honours with a 7-2 home win against Ladywood Social.

Bartley Green Social Flights were top scorers in division one as they raced to an 8-1 victory over Highlander Ladies, while yet another Bartley team, this time F.C, are finding their top form and won 6-3 against Stonehouse Flights.

The Harborne 401 League got their new season underway and there were 6-3 wins for both Raven and Ladywood Social in the first division. Highlander were on the receiving end against the Raven despite a 180 from their K.McKeown. A similar occurrence in the other match where Harborne Stores lost and their J.Phipps found the three treble twenties. It was not the case in division two, M.Phillips (Village Stump) scored a 180 in his teams 8-1 win against Highlander Ladies. In the local derby between Stonehouse Flights and Stonehouse Ladies, the former got the 8-1 verdict.

With the formalities of the league title out of the way, the Minworth Social Individual League staged their singles and doubles knockouts. Peter Allen may well have been disappointed as he finished third in the title race nevertheless, he more than made up for that with a tremendous win in the singles competition. He made his way into the last eight with a 4-2 success over league champion Mark Hollyoake and then defeated Derek Fardon and Steve Davis before beating John Ainsworth 7-4 in the final.

Allen almost made it a great double when, with his partner Derek Fardon he made his way to the quarter finals of the doubles onlt to lose 4-3 to the eventual winners Steve Cain and Gordon Clinton.

Playing at the Belgrave Sports and Social Club, Birmingham Vauxhall won the Warwickshire Mens Super League Knockout Cup title. Coventry Bishopsgate provided the opposition in the final and narrowly lost 5-4.

In the Sheldon and District Winter League St Annes moved a step nearer the premier division title with a 5-4 away win over rivals Highwood. Second placed Fordbridge Social kept the pressure on the leaders with a 7-2 success against Saltley Amateur Gardeners. Craig Hall (Three Horse Shoes) hit a maximum in his side’s 5-4 win at Brook Meadow.

Sheldon Heath Dukes made it eighteen straight wins in division one when they beat Glebe Community Centre 7-2, while division two leaders British Telecom Club marched on with an 8-1 victory against Old Bill and Bull. Ian Durrington hit a maximum for Small Heath Gardeners as they won 6-3 at home to Shannons.

The draw for the League Cup semi finals are, Premier Division:- St Annes v Brook Meadow, Highwood v Three Hose Shoes, Division One:- Punchbowl v Dovecote, Sheldon Social v Hobs Meadow, Division Two:- Plume of Feathers v Shannons, BCS Club v Old Bill and Bull.
