With the Small Heath League title already wrapped up champions East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association widened the gap between them and runners up Heartlands Club to eight points as in the latest round of fixtures they beat them 5-4, plus EBAHA still have two to play and Heartlands only one. Sheldon Marlborough Flights, will finish the season in third place, they had a 6-3 win over Wagon and Horses who with 20 points could still be overtaken in fourth place as they have two more games to play as do fifth in the table Cob’s Bar who are on 16 points, but it would mean Wagon and Horses would have to lose both of their games and Cob’s win both of theirs for that to happen. The Camp Hill League’s new season is up to week three and as early as that only one team, Sheldon Marlborough Flights are able to boast a 100% win record from a starting line-up of nine teams. Sheldon Marlborough’s latest result was a convincing 6-1 win at Station Wagon, who after playing two games are without a win and lying next to bottom of the table. With John O’Sullivan not playing in week four of the Shirley Premier League he has dropped from pole position down to fifth place and taking over at the top of the table is Pete Silver who didn’t get the best of starts to the evening as he lost 3-1 to Mark Gwalchmai, however he did make a quick recovery and went on to win 4-0 against bottom of the table Derek Harper and then with a maximum he added a further 3-1 success over Michael Forsyth to put him on 28 points from nine games. Gary Cleverley with two 180’s beat Chris Thomas snr 4-0 and rounded off his night having 2-2 draws with Mick Bown (130 finish) and Brian Lawton giving him 27 points from eleven games and second place in the table. The Silver End Sunday Morning League played the first leg of their Main Knockout and Shadow Cups. In the Main Cup Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ had the biggest win of the round a 6-2 success against Netherton Cricket Club, not far behind with 5-3 wins were Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club and Railway who in turn accounted for Glasscutters and Old Star. There was a first win in ten games for Wednesfield Conservative Club in the division one singles section of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League, however they remain at the bottom of the table two points adrift of the team above them Riley’s ‘A’. At the other end of the table Riley’s ‘C’ lead the way on 22 points chalking up their eleventh consecutive win when they won 4-3 against Gilberts Bar, the leaders have a six points lead over second and third placed Bull and Sunbeam.
