Week seven results in the Small Heath League produced just one change in the league table and that was at the top of the table as Heartlands Club won their home tie with East Birmingham Allotment Holders Association 6-3 to see them move up one place into pole position and their opponents drop to second place, both teams are on the same 16 points with Heartlands having the superior average, however Heartlands have played 15 games and E.B.A.H.A. have only played 14. It’s as you were at the top of the Premier Division of the Sheldon and District Winter League as leaders Highwood Gerry’s Boys recorded a 6-3 win at Sheldon Marlborough Arrows and second placed Langley Arrows, who are two points behind Highwood won 5-4 at Raven Arrows. Division One’s top team Hornet had a bye in week eight, their nearest rivals Dingle winning 6-3 at home against Crown-Forget-Me-Not to reduce the deficit to four points. With Hornet having won all of their seven games the only other undefeated team in the league is Division Two’s top side Holy Souls who made it eight successive wins when they won 7-2 against Crown Arrows. Second in the division Meadway Sports and Social kept within two points of Holy Souls with a 6-3 win over Langley Flights. Although Small Heath Gardeners lost 5-4 at home to Hampton and Solihull CC they moved off the foot of the table as Crown Arrows defeat at Holy Souls leaves them behind the Gardeners on average but they do have two games in hand and could well move away from the bottom when they catch-up. With Dunky’s Boys not playing in week 27 of the Shirley and District Monday Night League Highwood took the opportunity with a 5-4 win over fifth in the table Wharf to replace them in pole position as they took their points tally to 48 from 26 games, Dunky’s, who are now in second place having 46 points from 24 games. Third in the league Red Lion kept in touch with the top two with an 8-1 home success against Legion Royals leaving them six points short of the new leaders with two games in hand. Emerald Club remain at the top of the Camp Hill Marston’s League after they added a close 4-3 win over Sheldon Marlborough Flights to their account, however with a similar 4-3 win away to fourth in the league Roost Rebels, White Swan Nomads are only two points off the top with a game in hand. Third placed Tyseley WMC, like Emerald Club have played eight games, their latest success being a 6-1 win away to bottom of the table Peaky Blinder who after eight games are without a point. Brickmakers Arms continue to dominate the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League as they handed out a 9-0 whitewash to their visitors Hare and Hounds who replace Kingswinford Conservative Club at the bottom of the league table. Brickmakers latest win not only takes their unbeaten run to 17 games but also extends their lead to six points over second in the table Britannia who suffered what could eventually be a costly 5-4 defeat away to Ten Arches who are placed third and now just two points behind them. As already said Kingswinford Conservative Club moved off the foot of the table not only because of Hare and Hounds huge defeat but also because they won their second game in 17 when they beat Fox Inn (Lye) 5-4 who are now just above them and just two points to the good. Although officially this week should have been the final week of domestic fixtures for the Netherton Thursday Night League there are still a couple of outstanding games to be played, nevertheless the results will not affect the title as Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club had won it before they played their latest fixture which saw them win 7-2 at Netherton Conservative Club. Riddins Tavern are currently second, they have completed their fixtures and have 63 points, nine short of the champions who still have one to play and three more than third placed Bulls Head whose 6-3 win over Fairfield leaves them with two more to play with the runners-up spot as their incentive. The Brierley Hill Monday Night League staged their Doubles Knockout and taking the title with a final 3-1 win over Phil Tonks and Darren Brown were Dwayne Claridge and Reece Colley. The two last four games finished with close 2-1 results, Claridge and Colley beating Bob Carr and Rob Powers while Tonks and Brown took out Brian Neale and Ian Golding. Woodside ‘A’ leaders of the Silver End Sunday Morning League, took their total points to 58 with a lead of five following their 6-2 win over fourth in the table Glasscutters ‘A’. Second placed Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club were the week’s biggest winners as they beat Kings Head ‘A’ 8-0, extending their advantage over third in the league Glasscutters ‘B’ as they were held to a 4-4 draw by High Oak who are five places below them. Connor Pickett and Chris Williams are tied on 190 points at the top of the Ashwood Premier League, Pickett with a 5-2 win over Adam Glazzard and a close 4-3 success against Iain Mathers tops the table on average and has played 31 fixtures while Williams has played 34 after he added a 4-3 win over Matt Davies and a convincing 7-0 win against Jay Moule. As early as the second week in the Brierley Hill Friday Night League’s new season and only two of the starting line-up of ten teams are able to boast a 100% win record. After an opening day 7-0 win over Miners (Wollescote) leaders British Oak added a further 6-1 win against Brickmakers Arms ‘B’ while Netherton Cricket Club followed up their 5-2 win against Glasscutters with a 6-1 win at Dudley Sports to take over from their opponents in the number two spot with their losers dropping three places to fifth. Wilson Hall top the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League but in week nine had a somewhat surprisingly close 4-3 home win over Swan ‘B’ who are in the bottom half of the table, nevertheless it was another win and another two points two keep them in pole position and two points ahead of Ashwood ‘B’, Swan ‘A’ and Ten Arches ‘B’ who are all on 14 points. Ashwood ‘B’ with a 152 break from Chris Williams and a superb game shot of 167 from Josh Pickett won 7-0 away to bottom of the table Holly Bush to replace Bird (Wordsley) in the number two spot after Bird lost 4-3 at home to Ten Arches ‘B’. Week six in the Pip Club League brought together the two Belgrave sides with leaders Belgrave Sports and Social beating Belgrave Club 6-3, Daz Jones notching a maximum for the winners. The win puts the Sports and Social Club on 12 points at the top of the Combined League with a lead of two over Birchmmor Club who won 8-1 at Old Liberal House and Dolphin Wanderers who beat Kettlebrook Club 7-2. Allen’s Sports Bar ‘A’, reigning champions of the West Midlands Men’s Super League closed the gap on leaders Woodside Inn slightly when they won 5-0 against Horse and Jockey ‘B’ who are two places off the foot of the table and Woodside had a close 3-2 verdict at Cabin who are fourth. Riley’s ‘C’ continue to hold on to the number one position in both the singles and doubles divisions of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League, in the former they won 5-2 away to Bull and in the latter beat the same opponents 2-1. Gilberts Bar despite winning 4-3 against Wednesfield Legion in the singles lost their second placing to Railway whose 6-1 win at Dog and Partridge put them ahead of Gilberts on average, both teams are on 42 points but Gilberts have played three games more than both of the two teams above them. In the doubles division Riley’s ‘C’ with 46 points are two ahead of Railway after Railway won 2-1 against Dog and Partridge. A 3-1 defeat to Kyle Bevan and 2-2 draws with Gary Cleverley and Luke Harris have lost Jordan Ottley his number one spot in the Shirley Legion Double Top League as he drops three places to fourth with 13 points. Replacing Ottley in pole position is Wayne Clarke who got the evening off to a good start when he beat Dave Fisher 4-0 however he then lost 3-1 to third in the table Emmet Leonard but recovered to add a further 4-0 win over Luke Harris to give him 16 points. Craig Clarke and Emmet Leonard are joint-second, Clarke following up his 4-0 win over Chris Thomas snr with a 3-1 win against Brian Lawton while Leonard after his win against Wayne Clarke had a straight 4-0 success against Mick Bown. Craig Clarke, Emmet Leonard and Jordan Ottley all have 13 points but Ottley has played two more games than his rivals, Craig Clarke and Leonard both have two games in hand on Wayne Clarke.
