In the second round of The Sky Bet Mobile World Matchplay I played Mark Webster and lost 13-7 after Mark reeled off 6 consecutive legs to book his place in the quarter finals.
I held my throw throughout the opening 14 legs and averaged over 100 most of the time, which was great.
I took the opening leg against the throw on double 7, a finish that was set up with a 168 score as I started with a flourish, although Mark replied with a two dart 90 finish to level and double 10 to move 2-1 up.
I took out a superb 140 finish on double 16 to win the fourth leg, but missed tops to steal the fifth as Mark edged in front.
The next three legs also went with throw to leave scores locked at four all.
I then edged back in front by taking the ninth with a brilliant 133 checkout, and then missed three doubles letting Mark in to level again.
Mark edged back in front in the 11th leg and I levelled again in the 12th.
Mark then finished on 104 to keep himself on top.
I hit 80 to win the 14th leg and the scores were tied seven-all, but Mark took the next with a 61 finish before applying a killer blow with a superb 158 checkout to break as I waited on a finish.
Double top gave Mark a 10-7 advantage and then punished my missed Bullseye for a 170 finish as he powered home double 11 for a 142 checkout.
Then Mark took out finishes of 87 and 86 to book his place in the last eight.
Mark came back strong in the last six legs, hitting big checkouts and deserved the win, of course I am very disappointed but that’s darts for you.
I wish Mark all the best for the Quarter Finals as he’s a top bloke
Enjoy Blackpool it was awesome!!
Cheers
