BICC Preview - 18th/19th January

Premier Division:Warwickshire v Lancashire In what will be their mid-season fixture Warwickshire County Darts Organisation will be looking to make it three wins in a row this coming weekend in the Premier Division of the BDO Inter County Championships when they play hosts to second in the division Lancashire. Currently lying fourth in the table Warwickshire are some 18 points short of their opponents but will be looking to reduce those arrears and repeat last season’s result when they played away and won 20-16. Warwickshire are only three points short of third in the division Glamorgan however with Glamorgan having home advantage and a fixture against next to bottom of the table Lincolnshire the odds are that Warwickshire will not be able to overtake them. Division One:Hertfordshire v West Midlands With four wins from their opening four games in Division One of the BDO Inter County Championships West Midlands will be looking to make it five straight wins when this coming weekend they will take on bottom of the division Hertfordshire at the Shamrock Club, Ridgeway, Welwyn Garden City, AL7 2AD. With 97 points second placed West Midlands are just two short of leaders Cheshire and have a lead of fifteen over third placed Dorset and with a massive 36 points advantage over Hertfordshire to make them firm favourites to return with their fifth win of the campaign. Cheshire have an away game against London, never an easy fixture and that result plus the West Midlands result could well see West Midlands return to the top of the table while Dorset will play away against Humberside who are just two places off the foot of the table which should also make them favourites to return with a win. With just two places to fill in the men’s ‘A’ team players already selected to take part are Men’s ‘A’:- Gavin Baker, Scott Baker, Mark Craddock, Matthew Dicken, Alfie Jacques, Ian Jones, Owen Maiden, Glen McGrandle, Neil Pointon, Paul Wells, Men’s ‘B’:- Trevor Brennan, Matthew Coleman, Danny Coyle, Justin Evans, Scott Hall, Kirk Harrison, Gaz Johnson, Matthew Moore, Phil O’Brien, Jamie Rollinson, Mark Rollinson, Gaz Watts, Reserves:- Stephen Jones, Liam Kelly, Kevin Harris, Shane Price, Dave Redding, Danny Nicholls, Women’s ‘A’:- Cheryl Alcock, Gemma Barrett, Kath Jenkins, Jacqueline Maiden, Kat McLean, Sarah Roberts, Women’s ‘B’:- Debbie Davies, Lynne Reynolds, Shellbie Simmons, Stella Sims, Sophie Singh, Heather Wright, Reserves:- Julie Aston, Kelly Doleman, Shannon Hall, Claire Hobbs.
Division Three:Derbyshire v Middlesex After playing their rearranged division three fixture in the BDO Inter County Championships, a home tie with Merseyside that should originally have been the opening fixture of the season in September, Derbyshire despite losing 20-16 have moved up four places off the foot of the table into sixth place and only ten points behind third in the table Cleveland but 24 points short of a promotion place and second in the table their most recent opponents Merseyside, who are only two points off leaders Clwyd. This coming weekend Derbyshire will have the opportunity to reduce those arrears even further when they play hosts at the Pinxton Village Hall, 3 Kirkstead Road, Pinxton, NG16 6NA to Middlesex who are four points and two places below them. Division Four:Shropshire v Bedfordshire In division four of the BDO Inter County Championships Shropshire County Darts Organisation have two wins and two defeats from their opening four fixtures. This coming weekend they will be taking on Bedfordshire at their home venue The Royal, Delaware Avenue, Albrighton, Wolverhampton, WV7 3BW in what will be the middle of the season encounter. It will be no easy task for the hosts as their opponents are riding high in a lofty second position in the table with 90 points just eight short of leaders Leicestershire while Shropshire who are currently placed in a healthy fifth place are on 76 points. However two wins in the first four games is their best start to their season since the 2014 – 2015 season and a win would certainly confirm the improvement in the team and at the same time set them up for their next fixture which is a tough away game against leaders Leicestershire. Selected to play for Shropshire are Men’s ‘A’:- Dan Astbury, Eddie Austin, Jamie Barrowman, Rich Bowen, Reece Colley, Chris Fox, Andy Jervis, Gavin Moreton, Richard Parker, Martin Price, Martin Riggs, John Speed, Men’s ‘B’:- Sam Aitkens, Jon Blakemore, Nik Bloor, Paul Bromley, Andi Chatter, Mike Hampson, Brian Hickman, Rob Pierce, Will Roberts, Billy Robbins, John Simms, Andy Vellender, Reserves:- Jamie Daly, Martin East, Paul Harrison, Connor Jeffs, Phil Mayo, Connor Pickett, Neville Quinton, Dan Rickwood, Chas Skelding, Women’s ‘A’:- Jenna Ball, Stephanie Clarke, Sophie Fawcett, Julie Griffiths, Sue Lane, Marie Riggs, Women’s ‘B’:- Allison Gallagher, Rachael Mooney, Cheryl Owen, Caroline Powell, Michele Pritchard, Helen Walmsley, Reserves:- Suzie Barnham, Kim Hewitt, Julie Pugh, Deana Sheldon, Tammy Walmsley.
