In division one of the Four Oaks and District League The Boat are so far unbeaten this season but in their twelfth game they came perilously close to losing at Golden Hind and had to win the final game for a very close 5-4 victory, meanwhile rivals Boldmere St Mikes romped home with a 9-0 victory at home to Old Oscott Arrows to keep them within four points of The Boat with a game in hand. Congratulation to Plough and Arrows who earned their first league points in twelve games with a 5-4 win over Pint Pot Flights who are just above them in the table. St Thomas’s Social Club stay top of the second division after beating bottom of the table Rosey Mac’s 7-2. Second placed The Boot beat Red Lion by the same 7-2 scoreline to stay level on points with St Thomas’s but they have played one game more than the leaders. M.Bagnall (Pint Pot Flights) and J.Prince (The Boat) both hit maximums this week. Just two results this week one from each division of the Forest of Arden Winter League. In division one leaders Journeys End were 6-3 winners at home to third in the table Kingshurst Knights to put them four points ahead of second in the table Highwood KB who have a game in hand. In division two second placed Crown Arrows suffered a setback to their title aspirations as they lost 6-3 at home to Highwood Exiles who prior to the game had lost all of their four games, Crown Arrows now trail leaders Journeys End Flights by four points. The Sheldon Marlborough Cricket Club Singles League have got their new season underway and the early pacesetter is Dave Humphries who with scores of 180 and 100 plus a 10 darts leg beat Dave Howlett 2-1, Humphries then followed that with a 3-0 success against John Young in which he notched a further couple of tons. Alan Wale is in second place his one and only game saw him beat Dave Brown 3-0. Apart from the top two players Paul Sunner out of a starting line up of nine players is the only other player not to have lost he won his game against Ray Turner 2-1. With eight points from four games Bulls Head ‘A’ (Polesworth) and Queens Head top division one of the Pip Club League, however Bulls Head have a massive average advantage over their rivals to put them in pole position. In division two Globe (Wilnecote) lead the way with five points from four games but hot on their heels comes Progressive Club, Royal Oak and Pip Club who are all on four points from the same number of games. Fifth placed Old Liberal are also on four points but they have played one game more than the teams above them. Queens Head are top of the Master League with a total of 18 points from nine games but Bulls Head (Polesworth) are only two points behind them with a game in hand and any sort of win in that game would see them take over the number one spot. The Stourbridge and District Monday Night League fixtures brought together the top two teams in week five leaders Ten Arches ‘A’ playing away to their nearest rivals Gate ‘B’ and with both teams undefeated something had to give. Playing at home proved not to be the deciding factor as Gate ‘B’ finished on the wrong side of the 5-4 result which saw them drop two places in the table to fourth. Ten Arches ‘A’ with a perfect ten points now have a two points lead over Ten Arches ‘B’, Brickmakers Arms, Gate ‘B’ and Bird (Stourbridge) but the team to watch is sixth placed The Cross (Oldswinford) who are the only other unbeaten side in the league, their 6-3 win at Gigmill making it four wins in a row, a win in their game in hand would see them move up into second place level on points with the leaders. The Netherton Thursday Night League rounded off their season with their Captains Cup, White Swan representative Jason Southall proved to be a worthy winner, he began the night with a 2-1 win over Martin Rowley (Dudley Sports) and followed that with a 2-0 success against Colin Hickman (Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club) to book his final place. Emerging from the other half of the draw was Johnny Green (Fairfield) who had a 2-1 win over Carl Hadlington (White Horse) and then a 2-0 win against Jon Rose (The Widders) before losing 2-1 to Southall in the final. The league will be holding their presentation on the 23rd February and their AGM on the 2nd March, both at the Bulls Head, Netherton. All teams old and new wishing to join the league for their next season are welcome to attend the AGM. There was little change at the top of the Brierley Hill Friday Night League with all of the top three teams winning in week eighteen. Top of the table Brickmakers Arms had a close but crucial 4-3 home win over Pensnett Welfare Club ‘B’ who are fourth in the table. Second placed Pensnett Welfare Club ‘A’ were also 4-3 winners in their home tie with Dudley Sports while third in the table Netherton Cricket Club ‘A’ had a convincing 6-1 result against Miners (Wollescote). It was a good week for The Bridge (Kingswinford) who recorded their third win in eighteen games when they won 4-3 away to Ten Arches who replace Bridge at the foot of the table, Bridge move up two places. The Kings Norton League staged a local derby between Hillyfields ‘A’ and ‘B’ with the ‘B’ team winning 4-3 to consolidate their number one position in the table putting them two points to the good on second placed West Heath, while the ‘A’ team in fourth place are now four points adrift of the top. Third placed Stirchley United were another team to lose ground in the title race as they lost 4-3 at Toby Jug Flights who are in the bottom five teams in the league. Reigning champions of the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League Dewdrop are setting the pace once again as they made it three straight wins when they won 6-1 against Horseley Tavern, Island Inn however are on the same points and average as Dewdrop after their 4-3 win over Old Hop Pole and share the number one spot. Old Court House and The Wonder but Island Inn, like Dewdrop are unbeaten but they have only played two games as opposed to their rivals having played three. There were first win in three for New Talbot and The Vine the former winning their home tie with Merry-Go-Round 4-3 while the latter won 5-2 at Ivy Bush. Woodside consolidated their number one spot in the Silver End Sunday Morning League with an emphatic 7-1 win away to Pensnett Welfare Club who as a result drop three places to seventh in the table. Dudley Sports ‘B’ take over in second place to keep within four points of the leaders with a 5-3 win away to Blue Brick but there was a setback for The Bell who suffered their first defeat of the campaign a 7-1 reversal at Brickmakers Arms ‘A’ which sees them drop from second to joint fourth with Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club who were 5-3 winners at Dudley Sports ‘A’. The Nutan continue to lead the 301 table in the Bilston and District League adding a 5-2 win against Travellers Rest to their tally to give them 34 points and maintain their two points lead over second placed Lanesfield RBL who had a narrow 4-3 home win over Allens Sports Bar ‘A’ who are fourth in the table. The top two teams in the West Midlands Men’s Super League have opened up a huge gap between themselves and the rest of the field, leaders and reigning champions Crown ‘A’ kept their seven points advantage intact with a 4-1 home win over Staffordshire Knot to give them 110 points while second in the table Landywood ‘A’ won by the same 4-1 margin in the home tie with Chillington, third in the table Ten Arches are some 22 points short of the leaders. Bridgtown Social suffered a surprising 3-2 defeat at home to Crown ‘B’ and as a result Duke of York’s 5-0 win against White Swan sees them overtake Bridgtown. This week saw the start of the new Yeltz Bar Tuesday Night Singles League and the first week produced a couple of shocks plus some top class darts. Tommy Johnson had a 15 darter and a 180 on his way to a 5-0 win over Richard Barrett, Loz Slater also had a 15 darts game and a maximum 170 finish in his 5-0 win over Tony Duncan. In the battle of the brothers Alister Duncan came out on top beating his older sibling Richard 4-1 in what was somewhat of a shock result. However the biggest shock of the night was in the game between Richard Reed and Richard Hill, it was expected to be a close encounter but in the end Richard Reed ran out with an emphatic 5-0 win against a below par Richard Hill. Barring a major upset Ashwood ‘A’ after a further 5-2 win at Fox Inn (Lye) should take the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League title as they now have a total of 48 points which is six points plus a massive average lead over second in the table Brickmakers Arms and only four remaining fixtures, Brickmakers have five games to play but with Ashwood only losing two of the 26 they have played the odds are they will not lose two of the last four. Britannia were the only losers in the top six teams they finished 4-3 down away to fourth placed Ashwood ‘B’. The Rowley Monday Night League are four games into their new season and there’s no separating the top two teams Cradley Liberal Club and Ex Serviceman’s ‘A’ who have exactly the same points and average. In the latest round of fixtures the Liberal Club had a close 5-4 win at Ex Serviceman’s ‘B’ while Ex Serviceman’s ‘A’ were emphatic 8-1 winners at Windmills End. Third in the table The Bell are the only other team to have won all four of their games the most recent being 7-2 at Ivy Bush.
