Darts: Tranmer defends Foster^s Classic

FOSTER^S CLASSIC: Humberside county captain Steve Tranmer (Brownies Bar) will defend the Electrodarts Marston^s Smooth Brewery Foster^s Classic at the Ideal Standard Club on Wednesday, March 11,

This will be the first heat of the Electrodarts season.

Tranmer beat Mark Howard (Ideal Standard) 3-2 in an exciting final last year.

Tranmer took the opening leg on tops only for Howard to level on the same double, Howard, in his first Electrodarts final, went 2-1 up on double 18 but Tranmer levelled on double 16 before hitting a ^madhouse^ for the title.

DUBLIN CALL: Hull^s Leon Bailey has taken a second major step on his ambition to play for the England youth darts team.

The 17-year-old Bransholme marksman won the British Teenage championship last September and has now been selected for the North of England team to play the Republic of Ireland in Dublin this summer.

From this trial will come many of the England players.
