Article: GREAT PACKAGE DEALS ATTRACT PARTICIPANTS FROM BOTH CANADA AND THE USA TO THE BARBADOS DARTS FESTIVAL

GREAT PACKAGE DEALS ATTRACT PARTICIPANTS FROM BOTH CANADA AND THE USA TO THE BARBADOS DARTS FESTIVAL

A sizable contingent of participants from Canada and the USA will be joining the Brits, the Bajans and darts players from other countries in the Caribbean and South America at this year’s Barbados Darts Festival in November.

This signals a major breakthrough for Festival Director, Michael Heal, who has always felt that the ingredients that have made the Festival so attractive to darts players from the UK and the Caribbean for the last eight years would also appeal to darts players from the North American continent.“There are daily direct flights to Barbados out of both Canada and the USA and the travel time to Barbados is appreciably less than from the UK”, says Heal.  “This enables us to offer 7 night packages out of Boston and New York from £849 US through our accredited tour operators World Wise Travel based in Massachusetts – super value”, adds Heal.

“We have been working with experienced tour operators in both countries and they have appreciated the potential to attract darts players to the Festival in their respective countries.  They have advised us that Americans and Canadians are more likely to take shorter vacations - seven nights rather than ten or fourteen – and that they book their trips much nearer the event than the Brits.  Consequently, we have organised an itinerary to enable them to take part in all the major tournaments as well as enjoying all that Barbados has to offer.  Consequently we have about twenty participants signed up from these countries”.

Recently Wayne Mardle was in Las Vegas and he received a most positive response for the Barbados Darts Festival from darts players he met there and so the organisers are confident that the numbers from both Canada and America will grow.

As well as the tour operators Heal appreciates the support of the committee members of the National Darts Federation of Canada and the American Darts Organisation who have assisted him in bringing the Festival to the attention of their members.

“The participants from Canada and the USA will enhance the Festival’s international status and provide the participants from the Caribbean region with a chance to test themselves against a wider range of opponents from different darts cultures – the reference to “cricket” played on the oche will surprise a few of those from the Caribbean!”

Barbados as a darts venue will be familiar to both Canadian and American darts players because their national teams have competed there in the Americas Cup tournaments twice in the last eight years – and those who participated really enjoyed the experience and are therefore very willing to substantiate the claims made about the entire experience.

A good number of the British contingent who participated last year are returning to compete again in November – another indication that what is on offer is much appreciated and represents great value.

“Our tour operators in the USA and Canada have put together some superb, value-for-money packages which enable all participants to enjoy both the darts and all that Barbados is justly famous for”, says Festival Director, Michael Heal.
