Humphries Hunts More Success with Red Dragon
Luke Humphries became the latest player within the Professional Darts Corporation to claim a Major Title, after winning the 2023 Boylesports World Grand Prix in Leicester.
The Final at the Morningside Arena with Gerwyn Price was a battle of Red Dragon players, with Cool Hand Luke moving to Number 4 in the World after clinching £120,000 in prize money ahead of the Grand Slam and World Darts Championship later in the year.
The Newbury born player spoke about how Red Dragon have helped throughout his darting career so far, joining forces with us back in 2014.
“They’ve been a massive pillar in my career, the Major Championship winning darts I am playing with now are made by Red Dragon, they helped me create them. We started from an old Simon Whitlock model that I used to play with and then began to evolve them to suit me and my game specifically. The result has been a unique model which have performed superbly and helped my game massively."
“Everyone at Red Dragon, they are always there on the phone, always messaging you saying congratulations/ good luck. They are just as supportive as you’d want them to be, if you ever need any darts made or sent out, everybody that helps to do that so quickly is amazing.”
“I would never imagine myself being with such a great company before I signed with anybody. They’ve been a massive part of my success and now we’re both reaping the rewards together.”
Cool Hand Luke will hope for more success in the remaining competitions of the year, with the Grand Slam of Darts fast approaching at Aldersley Leisure Village in Wolverhampton. The Newbury born player reached the Semi Finals last year and included a 16-10 victory over Michael van Gerwen in the Quarter Finals.
“I’m at the stage in my career where I’m playing some of the best darts I’ve ever played, and I still feel that I can get better. I believe there is another gear in me, I feel very relaxed on the stage and if you believe in your mind that there is another gear then I can get better.”
“If I get even better than I am already, I’m going to be challenging for every major tournament I play in, you don’t get into the Top 4 in the World without showing some consistency as well. I’ve shown that in my game these last couple of years and it’s just about keeping doing what I’m doing, let the natural progression take over and it will take me where it takes me.”
Humphries will return to action on the 11th of November for the Mr Vegas Grand Slam of Darts before the Players Championship Finals at Butlins Minehead Resort, in what is the final competitive PDC tournament before the 2024 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
