Our local county teams, Warwickshire and West Midlands, are back in action again this coming weekend and both of them will be hoping to continue the fine form they showed in the opening fixtures of the season.
Warwickshire face a journey south to take on Surrey at the Epsom Royal British Legion. The two undefeated teams in division two of the Sheldon and District Winter League, Old Bill and Bull and Lea Hall Sports and Social Club continued their winning ways this week. Old Bill and Bull played at home against Victoria Social and chalked up a 7-2 win, while Lea Hall went one better and won their home tie with Small Heath Gardeners by 8-1.
In the premier division St Annes won thier home game against Highwood 6-3 with A.Richards finishing on 146 and K.Richards breaking on 160 for the hosts and B.Nixon hit a maximum for the visitors. J.Pears (Fordbridge Social) was another player to record a 160 break as his team won 6-3 against Three Horse Shoes. Fastest game of the evening went to D.Elliott (Castle Vale Residents) who shot out in eight darts to help his side to a 6-3 win at Hobs Meadow.
Other players to hit the headlines were K.Moloney (Saltley Gardeners) 9 darts game, A.Hinton (EBAHA) 9 darts game, P.Goldie (Old Bill and Bull) 160 break, B.Mason (Yardley Ex Service) 9 darts game plus 180 and K.Salisbury (BCS Club) 160 break.

The first round of the K.O.Cup was on this week’s fixture card for the Aston League. Biggest winners were Kings Ex Service and Old Oscott WMC, who in turn accounted for Tennis Courts and Yew Tree. Heartlands had a comfortable 7-2 win the Highcroft, while K.C.A. were 6-3 winners at Aston Social. King Edward and Hardy Spicers progress to the next round with 5-4 verdict against Mitre and Brookvale Sinners respectively.
All team secretaries should note that the league’s next meeting has been re-arranged to this coming Sunday (20th October).

The West Midlands Super League are only two games into their season, but they require one more team to join them. Teams consist of nine players with matches being played every other Saturday.
